I don't think "found footage" style is an excuse any more, maybe in the beginning, like the original Blair Witch when handi-cams were pretty much it for video recording. But fixed cameras are everywhere now! security cameras, web cams, road cameras, dash cams. Unfriended and the Paranormal Activity series use found footage style and nothing is lost because they don't use shaky cam. (well okay, there is a bit of shaky cam, generally at the end of the Paranormal Activity movies)
