If you decide to experiment with cardamom, a little bit goes a long way; I probably wouldn't add more than a quarter teaspoon to that recipe to start, maybe an eighth. (We made cardamom ice cream a while back by adding some of the spice to our vanilla recipe. It was basically a teaspoon of cardamom to just over a gallon of ice cream base. It's powerful stuff!)
