All credit goes to that friend for the idea; the execution was apparently very well received! And to be fair to the largest one at least, it's probably close to a decade old and even once crossed the Atlantic with my dad. It also hails from a time when I was thought myself "too good" to use felt for the eyes; I learned my lesson when my mom started commissioning me for the smaller ones left and right 😂 Suddenly, fast-and-easy eyes became a lot more important!
