So true. (Though, according to a commenter here, the pencil grip seen in cartoons actually has some basis in reality, even if the movements are not entirely realistic.) The next time I turn out something original, I'm totally going to sneak an alternative fiber artisan in there somewhere. Crochet almost feels a little self-serving, so I'll probably be going for bobbin lace or latch-hooking or something, but someone or someones will definitely be non-knitting-yarn-crafty.
