Want to see all the moods for my Fancy Rats mood theme so far? Click here! This is the official mood theme page for it on Dreamwidth. As of today, August 21st 2024, it's effectively done, with thanks to moodthemeinayear! I will post an official download link to the full mood theme sometime in December. Anyone who doesn't want to wait is welcome to download the images individually—which is a lot of work, so I may provide a download link earlier in this post, we'll see.

Edit: My Fancy Rats mood theme is now also an official site-supported Dreamwidth mood theme! That means that anyone can use it, no need to get a paid account! There are a few differences between the official version and my original version, so if you want to see all of the official rats, click here. [/edit]

I may have worded that poorly; this is just the page where all of the rat moods are presented together so you can look at them all at once. Like the page where it is officially all logged. The mood theme itself hasn't been adopted by Dreamwidth proper—though I certainly would be tickled if it became an official server-supported mood! I wonder if it's possible to submit custom mood themes for that...

Someone new just posted on birdfeeding and I checked their blog as I often do. empty_photos is using your Fancy Rats moodtheme. I thought you'd like to know. It made me squee just because I know you and I saw your art popcorning around in the wild. :D

I practically never indicated my mood in my posts until I got my rat theme partly uploaded. Now I keep the full thing open in a separate tab so I can pick the perfect rat for each post without having to look at moods one at a time 😂

Though I should really update this post; the link at the top is to my personal version of the mood theme, while the Dreamwidth version is slightly different. Also, I should include a link to the other fandom rats that can't be in the Dreamwidth version for copyright reasons! (Plus Neil! I was probably erring on the side of paranoia for not including him in the official version, but better safe than sorry.)

I didn't even notice they were different! I have a very good eye for detail, can you tell? XD Aww, the fandom rats are super cute, I love all of them. Plus Neil!! Did you create that one to celebrate Banging Out The Tunes day? :O

The differences are pretty minimal overall, TBH; Sailor Moon Rat and Pokémon Cosplay rat left, because copyright, and Neil for similar reasons. Also "Crazy" I removed the murderboard from the background, and the rat is now only wearing a tinfoil hat. "Pissed Off" is an alternate version that's flipping the double bird, and I went for one of the more diverse options for the official "Touched" (mmedium-dark with a ring splint), so more people can feel represented.

Neil wasn't originally made for the anniversary of Banging Out the Tunes, but I saw him so much on 4/13 last year that I was inspired to make him "Creative". I'm a little bit sad that he's not in the official version, but the official version has a rat doing fingerpaint paw prints, so I think it evens out. (Also, there's a little secret surprise in the new version of Geeky!)

Lol, with how similar so many of the moods are, I was struggling to come up with a way to differentiate "Cheerful"! I finally decided to lean into homonyms and draw the rat cheering something on. But what, exactly, would this rat be cheering for? The answer was obvious to me 😉
