Making it Official
I just canceled renewal of my Tumblr ad-free subscription. I've got another month before it runs out, but I feel like this is an important step in breaking away from the site. My queue is already empty, aside from any one or two posts I may throw into it on a given day, and I'm skipping a lot of posts on my Dash. I'm still not quite ready to go; in addition to backing up my accounts, there's some emotional processing I still have to do, but I feel like the subscription cancellation is an important step for me.
It's... going to be hard leaving, when it looks like I'm the only one currently planning to do so. There's a lot of people and bloggers I'll miss, that I don't know if they're anywhere else, or at least anywhere else that I would also like to be. But I've got fun stuff planned for Dreamwidth, and I still haven't given up Discord yet, so those should be able to hold me for at least a bit.
I'm sure I'll figure something out if I decide I need more social engagement online than just those. Maybe I'll see if I can find an active forum somewhere.

(I almost made a comment about digging around for an active forum somewhere, but honestly the closest I ever got to forums was.... kinda taking over an independent website's guestbook 😅 That was an interesting time in my life!)

I hope you find a space that works better. DW remains excellent, of course. I'm glad I get to chat with you here too.

I’m so glad you’re here, and send sympathy for the “platform breakup.” Like all close relationships, it’s hard to let go!
