Mask training
With winter here and my hyperhydrosis (medical term for "being extra sweaty for no reason") under control, not to mention the nominee for US Health and Human Services head (sob sob sob), I decided it was high time I try and train myself back into wearing masks full time at workâwork being pretty much the only non-home place I remove my mask for any amount of time.
This past week, with Cookie Staycation: Part 1 on Saturday, seemed like the perfect time to start, so start I did! I managed around half my work day on Thursday, and was aiming for around 75% of my work day on Friday, so I'd be up to 100% on Saturday, even though no Staycationers were expected in the bakery proper. Only on Friday, when I mentioned my plans, one of my coworkers said what a good idea it was, because some horrible bug was currently circulating around his house! Right when I hit the 75% mark and had de-masked to give my face some relief.
Needless to say, I put my mask right back on, and went for the full 100% that day.
So far, things have been going pretty well! The face masks I currently have are not the most comfortable in the world, but it's pretty decent; also, without my face sweating like it thinks I'm going to dry out if I'm not covered in a thin film of mucous, it's much less sensory hell.
I think I can manage this.
(Also, I am seriously side-eying a lot of fucks out there who were eager to unmask ASAP. If I put up with it for so long while sweating my damn face off, a lot of them have no excuse.)
