Because it needs to be said somewhere
I'm pretty sure I never got around to discussing it, even around the time I wrote and posted my first lemon ever (Akako/Aoko, friends locked and unreviewed; stopped me from even attempting to write another lemon until the plunnies got too insistent). Last [school] year, though, one of my teachers, Mr. Hartwig (who I raved about on several occasions) said something I thought was especially pogniant. He basically took apart the Write What You Know rule.
It isn't so much that we should write about things we've experienced, he said, but that we should write about things we have thought through very thoroughly. There's a lot of authors who write about things they've never experienced, never could have experienced, and do well with them.
Long story short, that's the reason I let myself get away with writing lemons, despite my complete and total lack of sexual experience. Besides, there's loads of research on the web that I can look to for help ;)
Oh, and one last thing before I close this entry. This is a link to The Mechanical Lemon, a basic breakdown of how to write boysex. It's not all in there, but it's something I would've appreciated a lot back when I wrote my first lemon.

It is good for writers to write about things they've put lots of thought to and haven't actually written about. Problem with that is, some writers just don't research their subject, or not enough, and thus it turns to 'doesn't make sense if it was real' lemon, pure smut with no pain whatsover.

Blame the fanfics I've read that were probably made by pubescent little kids. They burn so muchly.
Ha ha, procrastinating is so much fun. :)

... that reminds me, I have fanart for you that we need to scan in. ^^;; We're slow.
Also, Minotaur's Sex tips for Slash Writers (http://www.squidge.org/minotaur/) is a pretty good reference as well.
Think for me is that I'm not quite yet ready to have sex myself (<--27 >_<), so not entirely comfortable writing it either. That's changing as I'm changing, so...
-have no problems reading it however! Write! Write!
-were you in on the discussion about how hard it is to research girlsex? o_O

...Fanart. For me. *boggles* 'Scuze me while I spazz out from sheer joy ♥
Thanks; that does seem helpful.
For me it basically got to the point where I figured that I'd read enough to mostly have a good idea what I was talking about ^^; And I was getting plunnied for it, which played a big part. I'm still currently terrified of actually getting in a relationship myself, though.
XD I can't seem to escape it, so you're in luck.
Partially? I remember asking if you had any similar yuri-related links, and I remember you (I think) asking Wren if she knew of any or maybe if her mom could come up with some, but I don't remember if I was part of any big discussion of it.
