Fanart: Rainbow the Werewolf Hunter

As a reward to myself for finishing and sending in an application, I decided to go ahead and do a bit of work on that project I asked for opinions on. ...And then ended up more-or-less finishing it - or at least this version of it. Er. Go me? (I'll finish and send in another app in return, I promise. Or at least get as far as a boring aptitude/personality test part, which suck online because I can't ask clarifying questions, but I still seem to do better at actually turning in apps via computer, so. ...Where was I? Oh yeah, fanart.)

Anyway, to understand absolutely all of the jokes related to this, it would be helpful to read the short story, The Creature in Your Neighborhood by [livejournal.com profile] jimhines (which is not yet up on his website, but one can hope that it may make it there someday). It is currently available in the suburban fantasy anthology Strip Mauled, edited by Esther Friesner. Previous art for this story can be found here, along with solid proof that publishing companies should totes be hiring me to promote writers ;) (Come to think of it, maybe I should see about offering my services for such a thing. Now, how would I go about doing so...?)

Without further ado, I present the preview poster for the upcoming series Rainbow the Werewolf Hunter:

Spoilers ahead: It's skirting a bit close to fanfic, but I figure that a picture's worth a thousand words, so a couple hundred about my imaginary setup for this shouldn't hurt...

"It's been a year since The Man In The Moon was a Special Guest, and Imaginationville has changed. The residents are now suspicious of strangers, particularly Special Guests, and on full moons, they even lock their doors at night. Despite Gobbler being shoved into Grumpusland, the number of werewolves has only increased, and the identity of that first werewolf is still a mystery.

A small squad of monsters and humans have banded together to combat the rising tide of werewolves, and things are going about as well as they can. Then, one day, a new monster shows up in town. She's not a Special Guest, but she looks awfully familiar, and there's a bandage where her nose should be.

At the same time, the werewolves are starting to seem - organized. How will Rainbow, Imaginationville's foremost werewolf hunter, deal with these new developments? Tune in to the premiere episode of Rainbow the Werewolf Hunter to find out!
"

For this scenario, Leslie's body was either not properly disposed of, or she managed to, er, dig her way out, possibly on the next full moon. Rainbow totally kept her nose; that's it around her neck ^^a No idea what the "werewolves are becoming organized, oh noez!" plot is doing, and especially whether Leslie has anything to do with it or if her arrival is just coincidence. I just know I ship hard and hate unhappy endings/character death. So, uh, yeah.

The text is based on the font Buffied, by GemFonts, which can be found here, free. I say based on, because I just eyed it and scribbled in an approximation, but they totally deserve credit.

This is all crayon on pink construction paper; I'm planning to make a second, larger one on white poster board later, but I think I should be done coloring for today, at least ^^a Some of the base lines were originally done in pencil, but they should be mostly invisible at this point.

As I don't have a working scanner at the moment, and the picture itself is apparently just a smidge too large for my roommate's, I went ahead and took a photo instead. If anyone can tell me how to fix the page when one side is/appears larger than the other, I would be much obliged -_-b I imagine it'll happen again with the next one, so I'll definitely be looking to do layout a little better, try and keep the title from getting too close to the edge and all that.

Blah blah, back to work! At, uh, finding work ._. Then maybe more art. Maybe.
