And we're back!
That is, the car is back from the shop! Much earlier than I was anticipating, and even earlier than they were; they weren't expecting it to be ready until Monday, while I wouldn't have been surprised if I'd needed to wait at least a full week.
It is immediately obvious how much better it's driving. Since I would've ended up coming back for an oil change in a matter of weeks anyway, I asked for one to be done as long as they were working, and now that's out of the way as well. The only thing that didn't happen is the battery in my key getting replaced, and even that was a very last-minute thing I hadn't even known they could do and only mentioned off-hand right after dropping my car off in the first place. (Turns out they don't have the batteries it takes in stock.) Since I've gone more than a month without being able to remotely lock or unlock my car, I figure a little more time won't hurt me. It's a little annoying, since only the driver's side door has an actual keyhole, but as far as problems go, that's pretty low on the list.
The only problem is that now I've got itchy fingers to make an impulse purchase, having just emptied my checking account by about a third. Hopefully I can distract myself with the books, video games, and crafting supplies I already have...

Okay, so, the dragon you saw in my plushie positivity reblog? I usually charge $100 for that. It looks fantabulous, but I don't think it would sit in a "video gaming" position very well. It can sit, but the sitting style is more like a cat or a dog, and its arms/forelegs wouldn't really be positionable for playing a tiny video game.
However! My Charizard pattern is practically already doing that! If I swap out Charizard's head and wings for my regular dragon pattern, probably skip the flame on the tail (unless you think they'd like that?), maybe make a few other tweaks, I'd probably charge somewhere between $50 and $100. (Charizard was originally a commission as well, and IIRC I charged $50 for it, but I didn't time how long it took me to make, so.) I could also just go ahead and make a re-colored Charizard 😜
Comically tiny game controller I'd have to think a little bit more about. I don't have a pattern ready to go for one yet, and it might involve working in a smaller yarn size than I usually do. (TBH, I'd be tempted to just see if I could find some sort of novelty keychain-sized thing at a dollar store, or craft one out of Sculpy, but I am also partial to the idea of making everything match, materials-wise.)
Let me know if you like any of those ideas and/or if they'd be in your budget, etc! I usually prefer not to charge until after I've completed the thing, because anxiety over executive function and such. If you're in, we can start talking materials and other colors and stuff 👍
