My episcleritis is responding well to treatment, yay! But it's starting to appear in the other eye as well, boo!

So now I'm attempting to be proactive about treatment, and trying for prevention. I'm guessing it might be related to the passenger side carpet in my car, which got routinely soaked over the course of a month due to bad drainage issues, and I did not have the wherewithal to take the shopvac to it after every rain.

The leak is, as near as I can tell, actually fixed now, but I'm left to wonder if the carpet isn't actually horribly mold infested past the point that I can do anything about it. Once I was pretty sure that the leak was fixed, I vacuumed the whole thing, then tried a baking-soda paste (did not work well) and then sprayed the carpet down with a vinegar solution. Up next I'm going to call my mechanic and see if they're able to replace the carpet there, or if they can recommend someone who can. So that's possible solution number one, and while it will potentially hurt my pocketbook, it's probably better to have it done in the long run (and honestly in the short run as well).

The second thing I'm trying is cleaning my room properly! The aim here is to get rid of the tremendous amount of dust hanging around, and make it possible for me to hopefully keep things less dusty. Even if this doesn't help my eyes, it will still be good for me, and may help my sinuses.

I got a decent start on it yesterday, clearing out huge stack of things by my doorway that had been gradually building up for a while. The problem is that I decided to continue my cleaning streak tonight, and have now probably dumped way more dust into the air than I rightly should have for a good night's sleep. Tomorrow, I will ideally do my cleaning somewhere closer to the daytime, and also I will make sure to set up the box-fan-and-furnace-filter on high speed in my room for an hour or two after my cleaning session.

Anyway, I'm seeing my eye doctor for a follow-up on Friday, so between those three things, hopefully one of them will work.

I was about fifteen minutes into my commute to work today when the Check Engine light came on in my car.

I had already been planning to call my mechanic on Monday about some drainage issues (for some reason, when it rains, the passenger side floor gets wet? And while the long-term issues are worrying, I'm currently more worried about the possibility of mold growing under the carpets), but now I'll be bringing my car in then, and plan to talk about "end of life plans" for it.

I have spent $3500 on my car in the past twelve months. That's 70% of what I paid for it. And yeah, okay, about 1k of that was for tires, but I still want to have a frank conversation with my mechanics about whether it's worth it to keep pouring money into my car, and what my other options might be.

Edit: *facepalm* And my mammogram is scheduled for Monday morning, perfect! I thought it was for the Monday after that one, but no, I misremembered. At least I figured it out before the actual appointment. Next up, I just need to make sure I have transportation sorted...

After the horrific car expenses twice last year, this year's tax refund finally got my checking account back to normal levels! I was sitting at a nice, comfy spot for almost two months.

Almost. And now the check engine light is on 😭

That is, the car is back from the shop! Much earlier than I was anticipating, and even earlier than they were; they weren't expecting it to be ready until Monday, while I wouldn't have been surprised if I'd needed to wait at least a full week.

It is immediately obvious how much better it's driving. Since I would've ended up coming back for an oil change in a matter of weeks anyway, I asked for one to be done as long as they were working, and now that's out of the way as well. The only thing that didn't happen is the battery in my key getting replaced, and even that was a very last-minute thing I hadn't even known they could do and only mentioned off-hand right after dropping my car off in the first place. (Turns out they don't have the batteries it takes in stock.) Since I've gone more than a month without being able to remotely lock or unlock my car, I figure a little more time won't hurt me. It's a little annoying, since only the driver's side door has an actual keyhole, but as far as problems go, that's pretty low on the list.

The only problem is that now I've got itchy fingers to make an impulse purchase, having just emptied my checking account by about a third. Hopefully I can distract myself with the books, video games, and crafting supplies I already have...

Much better

A day of rest has done me a world of good! Granted, I have still more tabs open today, but I now have the brain power to start to deal with them, and a good hour or two in which to do so.

Mom is also feeling better; her test results are back, and say not only "Not Covid", but "Not the flu" as well. She still sounds like she gargled rocks for fun, but she thinks she'll be up to doing her Wednesday afternoon volunteer work. I am personally anticipating another request to take the dog on her evening walk when I get home from work for exactly that reason, but expecting it is better than being surprised by it. I'll probably see what I can do to take it easy at work with that in mind. I love Molly the dog, but our outings usually involve moving at a faster pace than I care to, and with more vertical movement than I'm used to compared to my mostly horizontally aligned job.
