Judging by the amount of fluff I just pulled out of the dryer's lint trap, pre-washing my new flannel sheets was definitely the right move.

Oh my yes! Flannel sheets are up there with cats when it comes to shedding.

And it’s definitely the right time.

They weren't quite as bad as the brand new towels I got a number of years ago, but yeah, they were pretty bad! Honestly, remembering the towels was half the reason I washed them. (The other half was that they still had some packaging smell.)

It'll still be another week at least before I put them on my bed, but they're nice and washed and ready to go when I do!

The brand new towels I got a number of years ago were worse (I was getting emerald green "fluff"-dust for years it felt like, and that was on top of the rude awakening I got for not washing them before using right out of the shower), but they definitely weren't great!

Oh god, I HATE lint-shedding towels! Those are the worst!

I've done that mistake exactly once. Never again. AND I've hugged a shedding cat before drying myself after shower (her fault, she thought I was in trouble and practically jumped me) and the cat was more pleasant experience.
