Fic: Touring the Garden: 1/1
Fandom: Kingdom Hearts II, surprise
Summary: Sora shows Riku and Kairi around the new Hollow Bastion. Mild spoilers, though some of it makes more sense if you know what happens in the Place Between. Gen.
Fic: Touring the Garden
"It looks a lot nicer than I remember it," Kairi said, admiring the surrounding area. "Not that I saw much of it my first time here," she added, "but it was pretty gloomy back then, wasn't it?
Riku nodded absently. "They made a lot of improvements from what I can see. What did you say the name was again, Sora?"
"They're calling it Radiant Garden," Sora told them. "See, a long time ago, there used to be these--"
"'Scuse me," a voice said behind them. "Can you tell us where to find the Hollow Bastion Restoration Committee headquarters? It's very important."
Sora, who had stopped dead in his tracks when the person began speaking, whipped around and stared for a few seconds.
Standing a few feet away were two men in black suits. One wore sunglasses and had a shaved head; the other had spiky red hair and crescent markings curving around the corners of his eyes.
Sora's jaw worked for a few seconds before he replied. "Yeah, sure! It's right down that way..." He rattled off a set of directions to the pair while Riku and Kairi watched in silence.
"Hey, thanks kid," the redhead said when Sora finished. "We've been lookin' all over the place for it. Turns out it was right under our noses the whole time!" The bald man cocked an eyebrow at the redhead and coughed lightly into his hand. The redhead glared at him. "Stuff it, Rude."
"I didn't say anything," Rude replied.
"Ya didn't have to," the redhead snipped. "I could tell you were thinkin' it--"
"What's your name?" Sora interrupted.
The redhead paused and looked down at Sora. "Eh? Oh, it's Reno."
For a brief moment, Sora looked disappointed. Then he grinned. "Reno and Rude, huh? Okay, I won't forget it!"
Reno grinned faintly back. "Sure thing. Take care, kid!"
Sora watched them walk off for a minute, then turned and smiled at Riku and Kairi. "Okay! Where to next?"
A few minutes later, Sora, Riku and Kairi were treated to the sight of Cid throwing Reno and Rude out of the Restoration Committee headquarters. "But Shinra Construction Company can help--"
"I don't give a damn about Shinra Construction!" Cid snarled. "We can do this on our own! Now get out here!"
The trio watched as Reno and Rude picked themselves up and, with many annoyed backwards glances on Reno's part, walked away.
Cid glared after them and thumbed his nose in their direction. "Damn Turks," he spat.
Riku and Kairi looked at Sora inquiringly. "What was that all about?" Riku asked.
Sora shrugged. "Search me."
