soc_puppet: Dreamsheep as Lumpy Space Princess from Adventure Time (Astronomy OTP)

I need to make more astronomy jokes

I have the inordinate desire to describe some hypothetical writing as "prose so purple, it'd have to be moving away for you to read it," if only for the three astronomers out there who would get the joke.

I also want to describe Vancouver as the chicken flavor of scenery, because according to (primarily American?) television, everywhere looks like it. Okay, that's just because 90% [← arbitrary statistic] of US shows are filmed on location there, but still. IT'S THE CHICKEN FLAVOR OF SCENERY, GUYS.

This post is brought to you by my little brother, who helped me remember in which direction red shift occurs! As opposed to blue shift, which is the opposite direction. So, a quote:
Tomas: I love saying smart stuff in stupid hats.

Here's to you, bro ♥ Unless you actually got your astronomy wrong, in which case I quote you anyway, as it is a damn cool quote.

Inevitable heat death of the universe.

Zaphod Beeblebrox is the best bang since the big one.

Haven't dropped in to say anything in a while - but I wanted to let you know that I'm taking Astronomy now, and I have a bloody awesome teacher. :D

I think Vancouver's skyline looks pretty distinctive -- at least I'm not familiar with any American skylines that have so many modern-style buildings.

I've never been there either, but there are pictures online, like:

And forums dedicated to the subject:

I suspect that the influx of HK immigrants in the past 20 years has something to do with the development of Vancouver's skyline -- at least, I see some influences from HK in the architecture.

Anyway, I'd love to visit Vancouver, or anywhere in Canada really.
