Story Idea

This is probably more of an "I enjoy thinking about this" idea than an "I will actually sit down and write this one day" idea, but stranger things have happened.

The premise, in ten words or less: Fairy Godmother Gone Rogue.

----

These days, the first rule of Fairy Godparenting is, "Never Let Your Godchild Know They're Not the Only One."

It's a hard reality to face, but it's true. Fairy Godparenting isn't the popular career it once was, even after it was expanded to other genders. Time was, it was easy for even the least destiny-inclined family to get a Fairy Godmother or two, and royal families often had several per child. Nowadays, though, Fairy Godparents are much harder to find, with fewer and fewer people going in for the job with each passing decade. Still, the official Association of Fairy Godparents (etc) remains dedicated to serving children who are hard of luck or overburdened with destiny, and cherish each and every recruit they get.

Ever since being saved faerself as a youngster, Stacia knew fae wanted to be a Fairy Godmother. Fae dedicated faer life to fulfilling faer dream, studying for every quiz and exam and putting faer all into becoming the Godparent fae knew fae could be. Nonbinary and femme, Stacia chose to use the traditional title of Godmother, feeling it resonated better with faer than the somewhat newer Godparent. Graduating near the top of faer class, Stacia was ready to give it faer all.

And for faer first child, fae did. And faer second, and faer third. Stacia did magnificently, making sure that faer charge's needs were met and wishes were on their way to being fulfilled, just as faers had been. There were a few close calls, when two of them needed Stacia at once, but fae managed to juggle things so fae could get faer charges the help they needed without letting on that fae had more than one godchild.

Then, one night, all three needed faer at once. Michelle's family was being particularly - and dangerously - ignorant, Bridgette was on her way to becoming a little matchstick girl, and to top it off, that evening had the prime conditions for Stacia to help Ivy manifest her magical gifts. Stacia wasn't about to leave Michelle or Bridgette in danger, nor could fae in good conscience let Ivy go any longer without proper magical preparations. With faer options limited, Stacia decided to break the cardinal rule of Fairy Godparenting, and not only introduce faer charges to one another, but bring them together.

Now Stacia is on the lam, doing faer best to stay under the radar while also protecting the children fae swore faer service to. Working together, the four of them may just save themselves, each other, and the Association of Fairy Godparents itself.

(Shoot, now I really want to read this!)
