Crochet that cat a couch

I've hit a block in Project Halzskaraptor, and figured I'd get a start on a kitty couch, because why not.

Turns out, for the vast majority of the rectangular couches, the pattern is alternating single crochet with double crochet stitches. Not every other row, oh no! Every other stitch. While this does serve to make a pretty nice visual texture, it's also a pain in the butt. I'm currently planning to finish the bottom as instructed, then switch entirely to double crochet and use the bottom as a measuring tool for the rest. I don't care if it doesn't look quite as good, it's for cats to lay down on; the fact that it's a cat-sized couch is already interesting enough!

will you share photos when finished? I only recently found a pic of a bentcane dogbed and I have rediscovered my love of smaller but not miniature furniture and a cat couch sounds cool!

I stopped by to see what your journal was like, I'm glad I did! Hard to breathe from the cute of those couches via the tumblr post, oh my! My crochet skills are rudimentary (hat, scarves, wavy afghans? check! anything of varying degrees of complication? *run away*) but I would chuck aside all other hobbies to learn to make one of those adorable little cat couches! My cats are huge, alas, and regular-sized couches are more to their liking, though I am amazed at the tiny places they fit themselves into with cozy complacency. <3 Throughout my brief history of crocheting, I learned that if I can't memorize the pattern, I can't do it. You're a braver crocheter than I!
