Crochet that cat a couch

I've hit a block in Project Halzskaraptor, and figured I'd get a start on a kitty couch, because why not.
Turns out, for the vast majority of the rectangular couches, the pattern is alternating single crochet with double crochet stitches. Not every other row, oh no! Every other stitch. While this does serve to make a pretty nice visual texture, it's also a pain in the butt. I'm currently planning to finish the bottom as instructed, then switch entirely to double crochet and use the bottom as a measuring tool for the rest. I don't care if it doesn't look quite as good, it's for cats to lay down on; the fact that it's a cat-sized couch is already interesting enough!
