Applesauce would be really delicious if it weren't for the damned texture.

At least the applesauce-oatmeal cookies are pretty good. Well, once I add in some caramel nibs, at any rate 😅 Operation: Get More Fiber in Socchan's Food has a promising new* recipe in the toolkit!

Building on this, in case eggs are something you'd rather leave in, applesauce can be substituted for up to half the oil in baked goods. I frequently use it this way in quick breads and muffins, and it works great.

I'd heard about the egg substitution (a mashed banana can be used the same way, plus some mixture of ground flax seed meal and water), but I'm pretty sure the oil substitution is new to me! It's kind of a shame I don't do more baking at home 😂
