Amigurumi pic dump
Epic photo dump ahoy! Not only are there three projects I've been sitting on pictures of for far too long, I just finished another three within the past week or so. I've really been booking on my projects lately, which is good :3b
Anywho, pictures.

Before she moved out, my roommate J commissioned amigurmi of her cats. That's Smolley to the left and Herky to the right. The rainbow-ish yarn was as close as I could find to tortoiseshell without also being ridiculously difficult to crochet :P

I got pics with their look-alikes before they left ;) Unfortunately, J lost the crocheted Herky pretty much as soon as she got home =_= She asked me to crochet a new one, and I did, except when I saw her next (a planned meet-up so she could finish moving out and help clean the apartment up a bit) she wasn't actually interested in buying him, even though she hadn't found the old one. *sigh* It doesn't have the white accents on it yet, though, so if you'd be interested in buying a black crocheted kitty, lemme know? I can still customize it a bit.

Pyralspite! I'd been planning to make one pretty much since it showed up in Homestuck, lol. It doesn't have a squeaker yet, but I did manage to find a bunch of cheap squeaky toys at the Dollar Tree a week or two back, so as soon as I take the time that will be rectified :)
This was actually one of my vacation projects back when I went to Texas in, what was it, June? Except I got the shapes totally wrong the first time, so I ended up scrapping those and starting again from scratch on the way back home. At least I managed to find eye-buttons for it. I tell ya, finding four-holed buttons can be a major pain these days.
Pyralspite accompanied me at AnimeIowa and was quite well received by the other Homestuck fans <3 I totally need to resize and post those pics.
The pattern is up here, if anyone wants to make their own.

The corrupt Senator Lemonsnout. He stands more like three or four inches/eight to ten cm tall to Pyralspite's about-a-foot/thirty cm, so there's not much contest there; not that there would have been in the first place, but wev. He was also quite popular at AnimeIowa, to the point where I ended up selling him and making and selling two more (all I had the buttons for) over the course of the weekend. (I might've ended up selling Pyralspite as well, except I didn't have a time trial done for it, nor did I expect to get one done over the weekend :P Maybe next time.) I can't say I'm not pleased with the result :)
The pattern is up here.

One of my fans(!!!!!) at AI ended up commissioning a bearbee from me on the last day. She said it was something she wished there was a plush of for quite a while now, which is definitely a good motivator for me. I think it turned out pretty well :)

At the penultimate AI meeting, a fellow staffer commissioned Kaien Cross from Vampire Knight from me. Yes, his pockets do actually work. He'll be going in the mail tomorrow if all goes as planned.
My personal goal with him was to figure out a pattern for small-sized human-shaped dolls that I could use for my lower price bracket, but that didn't work out as well as I'd hoped :/ He's really closer to medium than small. On the plus size, that does pretty much automatically give me a medium-sized pattern to work with, and I also managed to work out the small-sized pattern in my next project, so I guess you could say this turned out neutrally :)b

Grimdark!Rose and RainbowDrinker!Kanaya from MSPA/Homestuck, for
partingxshot, as spontaneous thanks for an amazing fill for a fic request I made. I still seriously need to do a re-read of that now that it's complete. *has been woefully distracted* Oh gosh it is such a great fill, I don't even know how to start praising it. Just. Alkdsfjsd. If you have nothing against Kanaya/Rose as a ship, give it a look-see!
Orange pipecleaners ended up working perfectly for Kanaya's horns, as I'd hoped they would :) I've been planning to make all the SBURB/SGRUB players in about this size (maybe smaller) for quite a while now, but had been sitting on the idea for a potential arts-and-or-crafts-ish Homestuck Big Bang Like Thing that may be coming up towards the end of the year (hope, hope!), and pipecleaners are what I had been planning to use since then. I mean, the trolls often end up with simplified plain orange horns, so I figured it wouldn't be much of a stretch. They still worked out better than I thought for Kanaya, and I'm looking forward to having another excuse to use them :)
My shaping technique: I used needle-nose pliers to get a nice sharp point where I bent the pipe cleaners, and then trimmed the fuzz accordingly. It's just one fold (well, two on Kanaya's hooked horn) with the legs spread out a bit at the base, so they don't appear to widen when you look at them from the side, but they do the job they're supposed to pretty well, IMO :)
Today I got to work on FFVIIVincent!Pony. Or perhaps I should say back to work, as his basic body has been done since before AI 9_9a Anyway, I've been using this pic as a reference, and he now has hair and some very fancy horseshoes going for him. The gold isn't quite the right color, but I figure it's probably close enough. I plan to tackle his cloak tomorrow, maybe get his eyes and cutie mark on Tuesday? We'll see how things go. My current goal is to have him done by this weekend, so he can go to his new home (and hopefully I'll be able to start work on one of his buddies).
I also wanted to say that I've been thoroughly encouraged to put together some good crochet works and take them by our local ritzy 3D art shop, see if they wouldn't be interested in selling them :) At first I was thinking things along the lines of Tiny Tiger, but my parents suggested I go with Woman With Plant(s) and the like instead. So now I need to think of other paintings to imitate with crochet. Any suggestions, lovely f'list/circle?
Final thing! Just a quick reminder that I've got a charity offer up at
fandomaid to benefit Somalia, which is suffering from a terrible drought, famine, and cholera outbreak. Please consider bidding and/or offering to show your support, or at least spread the word.
Anywho, pictures.
