Charity

Skipping that whole "feeling guilty about not updating in so long" thing, getting right to business. And by "business" I mean "charity". Yes, again.

First off: With my wrists finally more-or-less better, and my attention span also finally more-or-less okay, I'm finally knocking out those Help Brazil/Queensland Flood Auction items. I went for the things I had patterns of first, because I am weak like that. (EASY THINGS. DO WANT.) Thus, one Perry the Plush Inaction Figure and one Tangle Buddy x2 Combo were shipped off on Tuesday, and I began work on human-shaped things the following day.

WIP: Dobby the House Elf )

Anyway, I've got the base for three more heads done, I'll probably be starting on bodies as soon as I'm done with Dobby's clothes and such. IF I finish three of my four remaining projects by the twenty-sixth, I'll reward myself by... making an offer at [livejournal.com profile] help_japan. Uh. At least I'll be heavily revising my "winning bidder" guidelines so they're somewhat more manageable? (Only one winning bidder this time, if I do manage to slide in by the deadline, and for multiple items, the bid amount would have to add up to the total for the individual items. ...Yeah, that last part might need some more clarification tweaking.)

I'd totally go for [community profile] help_japan on DW, but it's closing sooner :( Though if they go for a second round and I'm finished with my previous quota by then, I'll totally offer amigurumi at DW instead of LJ. Because I want to.

MOVING RIGHT ALONG!

Despite not being able to offer any amigurumi at the moment, I am finally offering something really cool that I've wanted to offer since Help Pakistan. (It didn't happen then because there wasn't a second round, and I only managed to talk to the execs about it again yesterday, so.)

AnimeIowa Sponsor Tickets
You know, those things that usually cost $110 USD and net you a bag of goodies, Sunday brunch with the guests of honor, reserved seats at the Masquerade, etc? Yeah. The amazing, wonderful, generous execs and treasurer of AnimeIowa have offered two of these, starting at $50 USD each. Plus, if you've already registered, you'll get that money refunded.

I was seriously only going to ask for a single regular registration when I first approached the execs about this way back when, and they went above and beyond T^Tb I love my convention, y'all.

Special item(s) from my mom: A year of postcards from Iowa
One a week for a year, on the subject of "life in Iowa". She's planning to do two more sets as soon as she can think of new themes to offer. Starting at $5 USD, though it looks like there's already one bid ♥

My mom seriously loves sending "real" mail, on actual paper written with pens or pencils or whatever and everything ;) She was pretty excited about the idea when I mentioned that people were offering to send set amounts of real mail to help raise funds for Japan, and agreed lickety-split when I hinted to see if she would be interested in sending or receiving. My mom so rocks ^__^

Anyway, I think that's all for now. Uh. Go bid, go offer, have lotsa fun? Talk more later? Whatever.
