Teen Wolf musings

So apparently sleep is actually going to wait a little longer? Worst plan, I must say. It must be because the internet has decided to work with me, at least for the moment.
Anyway.
Can I start by saying that I'm not happy with how Malia's being treated/written? Because I'm not happy with it. Personality-wise (and circumstance-wise too, actually), she feels almost like a Cora clone. A case could be made for Hale-type personalities, but that's a bit too much nature > nurture for me. I was surprised and disappointed when it seemed like she was just written off the show after the first two episodes (seriously, a female character who can pull a full shift who was the same age as the main characters? Why the hell would she even vanish from the narrative in the first place?), and am even more disappointed that this is how TPTB have decided to bring her back and what they're doing with her now that they have.
Next up! I totally wanna know how the Lydia-resurrects-Peter thing worked. Because Peter was able to reattach his finger. And there's the hunter tradition of cutting werewolves in half that, IIRC, was the only sure way to make sure they stayed dead. (Well, aside from burning them to death, anyway. I guess you'd have to render the corpse in question irreparable in some way? Like, make sure the pieces were far enough apart that they couldn't start knitting back together if reintroduced?) Peter also said that Lydia was able to resurrect him because she's immune, and that his biting her awoke her latent banshee powers. Now, since his body was left, to the best of my memory (our knowledge?), in such a way that vital body parts were close enough to knit back together, did Lydia literally use her banshee powers to call him back to life? With this working hypothesis, and neither Boyd's nor Erica's vital organs being reduced to char, nor their bodies being cut into pieces, couldn't she do the same for them?
I want this to happen. This deserves to happen. I want the universe to be unbroken in this way, please and thank you, and put a rush stamp on it.
(Failing this happening in canon, which I assume will ever be the case, fanfic to this effect would also be welcome.)
Finally: Translation issues. Deaton said his Japanese isn't very good, and that his translation was only as best as he could make out. Anyone else remember when we had translation problems? Yeah. The kanima. Anyone else remember that it was a pretty vital translation error with friend vs master? Yeah.
I vote we find someone who knows Japanese to translate the scroll for us. Perhaps even someone who is already tasked with defeating nogitsune! Who is willing to sacrifice and has sacrificed their life energy to defeat nogitsune, and may eventually run out of life energy to sacrifice! Who seem like they might be open to other suggestions that might not involve killing one of their daughter's friends or pseudo-friends, or just possessed, relatively innocent teenagers in general! Now, where could we find someone like that, I wonder? (Spoiler alert: If you can't tell how much I'm not wondering where we could find someone like that, you may not be up-to-date on the series.)
Meanwhile, here's some translation stuff to worry about. "Change his body." Scott immediately jumps to the idea of giving Stiles the bite to turn him into a werewolf. If Stiles wants it, I'm all for it. But is it the only option? How drastic a change are we talking here? Couldn't Stiles get a tattoo or a piercing just as easily? Well, okay, he's terrified of needles (or is it just blood? What the hell happened to that little detail in the most recent episode and how the whole forced injection thing was playing out? Stiles seemed more terrified of going to sleep than of the needle, which seemed ...unusual to me for how phobias work? Not that he didn't have very good reason to fear sedation, and not that forced medication isn't gross in general, but wouldn't he have been panicking over the needle before what the needle was there to do was actually revealed?), but a lot of people like to go back to the first season when he refused the bite from Peter. I personally believe that Stiles genuinely didn't want to be a wolf that was turned and probably also ruled by Peter, though whether or not he wants to actually be a werewolf is less clear to me. Back on point, tattoos and piercings are known as body modification. This series has already dedicated time to the idea that tattoos can have great personal meaning, and when chosen with enough care (which, let's face it, Stiles would definitely do), I'm pretty sure a tattoo would do the job.
Other possibility: Is it necessarily Stiles who needs to be changed? What if it's the nogitsune? What if its body needs to be put to rest properly? Proper Japanese funeral rites or whatever. (If this were an anime, Kira would totally be breaking out the miko robes. In fact, she probably would have done so already. Someone please tell me there is already art, and then direct me to it.) Or, to go closer to the beginning of 3b, remember what Scott observed about the foxfire/fox shape around Kira: he said it looked like it was protecting her. Can they change the nogitsune into something that would protect Stiles? Could Kira do something to change Stiles or the nogitsune to save the former, or even both of them?
Okay, that's all the speculation that I have for now. I seem to have accidentally predicted Malia Hale, which likely exhausts my predictive ability for the series in general.
