Blood Drive
Apr. 20th, 2005 02:26 pmWent to try and give blood at the CHS blood drive today. Didn't go yesterday because I wouldn't be able to get out of gym ^^; Went today _during_ gym >D, but couldn't donate ;_; They were out of small needles, and apperantly I have small veins (and my anxiety disorder doesn't help -_-) so they suggested I go home and call the center and see if I could make an appointment to donate with them later today (or later this week or something). I can't do it tonight because I have that stupid orchestra concert >_< (the big East-side concert, in the non-airconditioned gym, in near 80 degree weather with high humidity =_=) but tomorrow might work. I'll have to look into it.
I was really looking forward to giving blood this time ;_; I had to stop in the middle last time because I started getting dizzy and my blood pressure dropped like a brick ^^; but at least I learned that I need to have my feet up when I give blood! Anyway, I wanted to give a whole bagful this time since I couldn't last time--but I _still_ couldn't T-T *sniffle* And Hanchan won't because she's afraid of needles -_- And 'Kenchan already has.
I really like giving blood. It helps a lot of people (or at least has the potential to) and, as Mom and I are fond of repeating, it's the one time the medical profession will tell you, "Don't excersize, eat a big meal, and here's a cookie."
I ended up leaving with fifteen minutes officially left in gym--but come on, who's going to stay for fifteen minutes of gym anyway, especially when she's already skipped the first thirty? Left with a T-shirt for Mom (hopefully it's big enough), two of those wide rubber bracelets that are so in style right now and that I still don't get the appeal of (they say "DeGowin Blood Donor"), and a sticker that says "Be nice to me! I tried to give blood today."
Okay, done pouting. Now I'm going to go make those Gay Penguin icons/T-shirt designs, write, and/or play Slime Forest Adventure.
