Jan. 21st, 2011 10:11 amSo, BFF and former-roommate P commissioned me to crochet her a plush vargouille, after her D&D familiar.
(This familiar is totally hilarious ♥ The party was up against some wraiths at one point, and P's character somehow failed her knowledge-check for them, but the vargouille miraculously succeeded, and proceeded to spout off everything it could remember about wraiths. Unfortunately, while it remembered rather a lot of useful information, it didn't remember what it had already said, and started repeating itself after a while and would not listen to commands to STFU already. This caused its master no end of frustration, and I have been hilaritized by it ever since X3)
Anyway, after a self-imposed twenty-four-hours crochet-free (which I barely managed, probably only by sleeping almost all day), I began crocheting the little wretch at the crack of midnight, Wednesday morning ^^a I'd been working on it pretty consistently since, and was finally down to only the tentacles left after staying up way late last night - or so I thought.
See, I took it to show off to current roommate and DM for this game C, and he said, "I'm going to rain on your parade here: vargouilles don't have ears." He paused, and I was pretty clearly starting to look dismayed. "Unless it had ears in the picture, in which case the artist was wrong," he concluded.
"It had ears in the picture," I confirmed.
"Huh. I was pretty sure that the ears turned into the bat wings, but now I'm less certain. Read the description, I guess."
So I did. And while it wasn't in the main description, it was described under one of the vargouille's attacks: "Kiss". And yes, the ears do turn into wings =_=
Fuuuuuuccckkkk. I mean, it's not like I'll have to re-make the entire thing (that would be even greater levels of annoying), but the busy work involved in taking out the stitching on both the wings and the ears, and then re-stitching the wings in the ears' place is... not something I'm looking forward to, to say the least.
Stupid fucking incorrect picture.
