soc_puppet: Words "Language Barrier" in yellow (Language Barrier)
Anyone else have the awesome-yet-terrible urge to write letters as characters of whatever to Captain Awkward? And then obviously never actually send them in, because the good Captain has enough on her plate, but maybe writing fictional replies to them yourself? Because it just occurred to me that that would be way fucking cool and there's a boatload of characters to whom I would love to give practical life advice but making a point of doing so overtly with some other random character feels like a cheat (and also bad writing) and even moreso if I go the blatant self-insert route, because who am I to tell a character how to live their life? Especially if they don't ask, and let's face it, who would? If I found out I were a fictional character to someone (and really, if I ever do find this out, I would at least hope I'm a supporting cast member rather than a main character, because my life is WAY TOO BORING for me to be the main character for my tastes), I probably wouldn't--well, okay, I actually might ask whoever it was what life advice they had for me, but I'm comfortable with that level of meta. But what other character(s) would? And again, writing it into a fic just seems kinda gratuitously self-serving.

Anyway, I just think it would be fun to write and/or read. We've got Quadrant Queries for Homestuck, thank goodness (and have I raved about the inspiration, Broadcast System yet? I don't think I have, it is AWESOME and you should go read it if Dave/Tavros is even remotely your thing), which is why I'm not prompting it on [community profile] homesmut RIGHT THIS INSTANT, but I'm not particularly aware of anything like that for other fandoms, so. Letters to Captain Awkward. Yes.
