Making Plans
Jan. 21st, 2014 07:55 pmSomeone at Shakesville suggested Captain Awkward as a possible resource for dealing with my problems with my boss. I found out that the site isn't accepting letters or questions at this time, but through the "work" tag I found the following post:
Confronting Offensive Bosses and Coworkers.
It outlines exactly what I should be doing if I want to see improvement in my workplace. I'm already on the right track here with recording information and dates, and the rest of it lets me know what else I should be doing (including brushing up my resume, which was something I'd already been considering; or at the very least visiting Breads From Anna again now that I've finished school). It pushes my (honestly highly unrealistic/optimistic) timeline back as much as a few months, but I'm feeling confident that I'm doing what I need to in order to ensure a safe and healthy workplace and learning environment. The comments are also excellent, and have enforced with me the fact that I should probably be emphasizing the hotel's role as a teaching institution and include the school's policies on harassment/diversity/etc; it may be my best chance to object to the horrendous things my boss says that don't apply directly to me or my coworkers.
Now, let's see what I can do with this...
In other news, the forwardslash key on my keyboard is losing functionality. Thank goodness I've got a backup laptop...
