[Content Note: Illness]
Guess who just spent the last two hours baking something and has to be up and out the door in three hours? THIS GAL.
One of my aunts is sick - bad sick - and my grandma can't take care of her by herself, so Mom's flying down there to help out. Grandma has commissioned me to make cookies and cupcakes to send with my mom on the plane to share with my aunt and cousins, because this is a difficult situation and sweets are frequently happy-making. Also, I'm a baker, so.
Of course, since baking is my occupation, I don't necessarily want to come home and bake more. Also, Grandma didn't specify any cupcake or cookie recipes/flavors, other than that the cupcakes needed vanilla icing. So I made peanut butter blossoms for the cookies (just my traditional gluten-free PB cookie recipe, but no pre-flattening and sticking a chocolate on top right out of the oven), and then my Nutella cupcakes for the cupcakes. I increased the milk to a cup, since the batter was a little on the thick side and they were hella dense the last time I'd made them, but I haven't taste-tested them yet. Honestly, right now I'm just sick of thinking about baked goods; I'll probably split one with Mom for breakfast.
I did make sure to ask Mom to call ahead to the airport and/or check their website to find out about their food transportation policy. I'll admit, a significant part of me was hoping that they'd veto food transportation so I could get out of baking stuff guilt free :P Alas, no dice. They said it was fine, Mom just might get extra scrutiny and probably demands for taste-testing and the like. Thank goodness I ended up with extra. I'll probably try to wrap everything extra-well also, since recycled air plus nut products equals baaaaaaad.
Anyway, I did say something about sleep before driving Mom to the airport tomorrow, didn't I? I have the day off, but I'm still leaving at basically the same time as usual, since Mom's plane leaves at seven in the morning and it'll take us an hour to get there, sigh. So yes, sleep.
