Right, so! Two weeks ago (argh argh time passing I am a flake argh), for my birthday, I took prompts for Heart-Pounding Excitement at Mononoke Girls' Academy fics. I only got the two, and they were kinda similar, but I ended up getting three ideas, so I can work with that \o/;;;
Anyhow, Lililicious just put up the next chapter (♥!), so I decided it was about time to get off my lazy butt and finish writing ¦3b
Standard disclaimers apply, etc.
For
mizuno_youko: something about Kiri's backstory, like her first kiss/romance or her first day at the academy
Entrance Exam
Kiri glowered balefully at the front gate. The leaves were changing again, and her human still wasn't back from whatever it was she had been doing. Kiri wasn't especially worried, except this had already happened a number of times already since the woman had left, and it always got really cold when all the leaves were gone, and really, hadn't her human been gone long enough?
Voices sounded from the front door; Kiri flicked an ear. There had always been property hunters sniffing around their house, but they'd gotten worse since Kiri's human had gone, and Kiri could only scare them off for so long. Her human was much more efficient at the task.
That decided it. With a stretch and a yawn, Kiri got to her feet; it was time to track down her human. Tracking was something she was very good at, too; vermin never lasted a single week while she guarded the house. Putting her nose to the ground, Kiri got to work.
It was hard going at first, harder than she'd expected, because her human's scent was so far gone. It seemed like millions of other scents overlapped it, muffling it, no matter how dear it was to Kiri. After a quick shift in direction, though, it got strong enough that Kiri could practically track it by sight.
Kiri followed the scent's winding trail through an odd series of obstacles (all on the ground; humans were too clumsy to use the more obvious routes) to where it finally stopped at a garden of stones and incense. Kiri batted at the stone where the scent trail ended, calling softly for her human. Surely she would come out of hiding now, right? Kiri called again, and a drop of rain fell by the stone's base. This was no good; Kiri hated getting wet. Her human really needed to show up and take her home, so she could dry Kiri off and pet her just right to make up for disappearing so long.
"Nekomata-san?"
Kiri turned quickly to the source of the sound, wiping her face to regain composure - though there was something strange about that...
"Nekomata-san," the person repeated. Kiri frowned; it looked like a woman, except her head was much farther away from her body than a human's usually was. "Are you here for school?"
"School?" Kiri asked, her voice sounding strange to her own ears. "No, I was just looking for someone; the old woman who used to take care of me. She should be here, but..." Kiri pouted at the stone.
"Ah, I see." The woman with the strange neck nodded (though Kiri was not entirely sure how she could tell). "You'd best come with me, then." The woman took one of Kiri's paws and pulled her up - and up, and up, onto her feet.
Kiri looked in astonishment at her new shape. "I--?" she started.
The woman smiled, not unkindly. "Welcome to Mononoke Girls' Academy," she said. "We'll get you all sorted out."

I had a couple more versions of this, but this is the one that got finished first, so it's the one getting posted ^^a
Alternate versions include one with a miko "encouraging" Kiri to leave the house and look for her master/pet human, and one where Kiri sees some other mononoke walk by and they invite her to go to school with them.

inarticulate: Kiri (or anyone in the class, really, or combos) before Arare's arrival
Souvenir
Everyone had lots of questions when the Amanojaku returned suddenly from her mysterious disappearance.
"Where did you go?" "What did you do?" "Did you bring us back anything?"
"Mount Fuji," the Amanojaku answered. "I kicked a konoha-tengu in the nuts. And I brought you all demon-banishing charms."
Squawks of outrage rose from the group, particularly the tengu in attendance. "What, really?" "How could you?" "You wouldn't dare!"
"Of course not really!" the Amanojaku snapped back. "Whaddaya think I am, a tourist? What the hell!"
"Excuse me," Rokurokubi-sensei said. "The dorm mother wants to see you."
"Aw, crap," the Amanojaku huffed. "This has been nothing but problems from the start. I knew it was a horrible idea!" She went willingly enough to the dorms, however.
She returned a few minutes later with a second Amanojaku in tow. "This is Akina. Do whatever you want with her, I don't care." But she stood very close to the other Amanojaku.
"Oh, another Amanojaku!" "Where did you find her?" "Was it someplace interesting?"
"The hell's with all these questions?" the Amanojaku exploded. "She was just wandering around somewhere, looking lost and pathetic, and I thought it'd be funny to bring her here!"
"Lot of fun this turned out to be," Akina snapped back at her. "I can't believe I decided to go with you!"
Kiri saw how close they stood together, though, and how tightly Akina held the Amanojaku's hand, and smiled to herself. Someday, she thought, it would be nice to find someone who meant as much to her.

Not a lot of commentary here; I just think it was a cute idea :)
Room Party
Arare flopped backwards on her futon and stared at the ceiling; Pero draped herself conspicuously over her. For a school attended by mononoke, Arare mused, it could sure get boring when homework was done. She hadn't given it much thought, but if she had, she'd have assumed that mononoke went out and practiced tricks or something when they had free time, but that was almost homework by itself. They didn't even have TV...
A thought occurred to Arare, and she sat up abruptly, spilling Pero over. "Hey!" Pero objected weakly.
"You and Kiri," Arare said, "you didn't do anything different before I was here, did you?"
Pero frowned. "What do you mean? Do you want to know if we kissed and had sex before you got here? You want to know who Kiri's old girlfriends are? You want to know about all her sexual experiences?"
"What? No!" Arare protested loudly her face flaming. "I mean, did you go out and do anything more exciting before I got here. You know, things it might be dangerous to have a human along for. Mononoke parties, anything?" She tried to squash all curiosity about the other things Pero mentioned before it could get too far.
"Mononoke sex parties? Gee, you're awfully perver--"
"Pero! That's not what I meant!" Arare cut her off, sealing a hand over the mononoke's mouth. This was not the best idea for dealing with an Akaname, however, and Pero had no problem demonstrating why. "Ewww, Pero!" Arare withdrew her hand and wiped the copious amount of saliva off on her futon. "I just wanted to make sure you're not missing out on things because of me," Arare grumbled.
Pero rolled her eyes. "Don't be silly," she admonished. "If there were any parties going on, do you think I'd be hanging around here with you?"
"Gee, thanks." Arare was regretting she'd ever asked.
"Don't mention it," Pero replied, missing the sarcasm. She paused for a moment, regarding Arare. "Well, since you asked," she said.
Arare's head rose. "What is it?"
"Ever since you got here, Kiri's been more cheerful." Pero shrugged. "It's not a big thing, but you were wondering."
"Oh." Arare felt her mouth stretch into a somewhat goofy smile, and she felt warm from her head to the tips of her toes. "Well, I'm glad to be here, then!"
"Yeah, I'm kinda glad you're here, too," Pero admitted, smiling a bit herself.
"Mm." Arare smiled at Pero another minute, and then the atmosphere started to get to her. "So how would you go about starting a mononoke party, then?"
"Here, lemme show you," Pero said, and pulled a floorboard up to reveal a very impressive stash of snacks and saké.
Two hours later, the dorm mother and Rokurokubi-sensei had to intervene when the party broke through the roof.
