Date: 2008-03-13 01:55 am (UTC)Okay, from a marketing perspective this was either a smart move by SUP or a move that made them shoot them in the foot.
I'm of course opting for the latter.

Date: 2008-03-13 02:07 am (UTC)Since the strikeout and the multiple sequel, I'm tired of LJ wank, so I would stay indifferent for this one.^^;

Date: 2008-03-13 02:30 am (UTC)But seriously, are these guys fucking morons? How many Strikethroughs do we need until something gets through to the corporate mongrels?

Date: 2008-03-13 02:34 am (UTC)As many as it takes for them to lose a good 50% of their userbase at this point, I'd imagine. I could write a paper on the idea that the internet causes brain damage based solely on the handling of LJ over the last... however long.

Date: 2008-03-13 02:41 am (UTC)Yeah. You might want to put things into a bit more perspective than what you mentioned before. Obviously, it's the opposite of what you say. Obviously.

Date: 2008-03-13 02:46 am (UTC)The thing is that this guy doesn't seem to get that most LJ users would have reacted in that fashion if this had been OUT IN THE OPEN. Trying to bury it in the comments and spin it in such a fashion as to suggest that it's for US was pretty much the worst thing they could have done--aside from not announcing it at all, I suppose. Although I think holy hell would have been raised the minute someone tried to create a new RP account and discovered the change.
So...all that crap about learning from 6A's mistakes and the Advisory Board was bullshit. Fabulous~ Guess it's time to start using my LJ SUCKS icon again.

Date: 2008-03-13 02:51 am (UTC)Also, it's not the change that is bothering people. Like you said, it was the lack of forewarning that is pissing the whole LJ community--even BRAD--off.

Date: 2008-03-13 03:02 am (UTC)But yes! Do write the essay at some point! It would be complete win and awsum, really.

Date: 2008-03-13 03:26 am (UTC)You should start a little betting pool as to the number of 'flubs' lj makes in a month. It might be kind of fun.

Date: 2008-03-14 01:23 am (UTC)Playeth not devil's advocate! Also, I would totally never even get started, let alone finish, as I am hardly even remotely interested/don't have quite enough sources yet.

Date: 2008-03-14 01:25 am (UTC)XD I'm tempted, but I don't think I have the skills as a bookie to pull it off.
