Chocolate and fics
Jun. 18th, 2008 08:56 pmHooray, it's LJ posting time again! \o\ Everyone loves LJ posting time 8D Or, well, I do at any rate, and that's what's important right now, yes? Good.
Thing the first! Thanks to Sam and her initiative in actually, you know, calling Daydreams after I hadn't heard from them three weeks since leaving my number (I knew I should've left a better definition of who I was than just my name), I now have an appointment to visit them on Tuesday next at noon to talk about the production and sale of chocolate Death Notes. I hope to devote time later tonight to making an actual mold to use for the process, or at least for the lettering, which would help speed things up a tad. And possibly also to make a mold for other potential chocolate treats.
Thing the second! Fics I want to write/work on in the near future-ish time:
* Champion for a Cause [working title], Storm Hawks
Starling-centric team fic in which there is action and adventure and Starling tries to work out exactly why she has so much fun hanging out with the Storm Hawks (and may or may not be forced to reflect on Unrealistic Guilt Issues). Will also involve: the Cyclonians conspiring to cause a flood of epic proportions on terra... something-or-other, I haven't decided on a name/designation, only that there will be a lot of lakes and rivers and streams and a giant reservoir and also rain crystals and stuff; Deep And Meaningful Conversations with just about everyone on the team - yes, even Finn; action and adventure and wacky food hijinks; training games; faaaaaaar too many words. I have no idea when I'll even get started on this, or how I could possibly finish, given how long it seems to want to be and how long I usually want to actually make my fics, but I like it, so we'll see if I can pull it off.
* Dinner Rush, Ratatouille
A revolving door comedy that I've been thinking about a long time. (Those of you unsure what a Revolving Door Comedy is can find a very comprehensive definition here.)
Groups of people involve:
- Remy and his brother (and possibly his father?)
- Colette and Alfredo [Linguini]
- Anton Ego and SURPRISE GUEST, Edna Mode!
- five tables worth of diners, whose various quirks I need to think up and decide]
This fic is going to involve a lot of strategy and planning of hijinks yet, but I have been wanting to do it for a while, so I'm hoping to stick with it. Anyone who wants to suggest traits or characters even for potential diners would be encouraged and appreciated.
* First Aid For Burns, Avatar
Something I want to write mostly for the title, I'll admit. A fic about the little things that help team Aang start to see Zuko as more human and less an enemy. Katara would be the long holdout, pretty much obviously, and Toph won't take much effort at all, but I do need to actually think of things that would work for it, so. ...I'm also tempted to put this off until after the series ends, if only so I won't have the potential of the series "disproving" the fic. Probably gen.
* Communications, DCMK (already in progress)
As far as this fic goes, I'm pretty sure I've got something like seven more parts to go on, one of which is already written and really just needs typing and cleaning up before I post it. I'm actually bizarrely disturbed to think that I'm only around two-thirds of the way done with it. Anyway, I'd love to blab about what the rest of the segments are going to be about, but uh. I don't want to spoil indiscriminately. This fic is kind of my baby, and even if I'm doing a crappy job of raising it sometimes (neglect! neglect! arrest her!), I still want to do that sort of thing right, and it just feels wrong to share it as a list. Conversation format would be better, but I hardly ever chat (I suck at it, frankly), and even when I do, it's pretty much never with anyone who's actually read the fic, and no one I know IRL has and/or is interested in DCMK, so. And there's the wicked little urge to keep it a secret, but that I can live with.
...Dear God, I just remembered; I was working on Communications in Europe. That was almost four years ago by now. I need to finish this baby up, and cut the cord already. And then maybe I can talk myself into working more on Small Things or something...
And I think that's all for today.

Whoops ^^a Not that FireFox's spellcheck was any help for once, but you'd figure I'd remember that 9_9a
There will be talk of re-designing waitor's uniforms to better fit the super-heroic atmosphere of the restaurant 8Dbbb
Yep, alive and twitching ;3 I really need more excuses to just sit down and write. I've run out since I graduated high school.
Yep; started this journal within a month or two of my return, so it's been four years now, but I have indeed been. *wonders if she should take a picture of the translated-into-German manga she brought back*

Date: 2008-06-20 07:30 pm (UTC)XD I was thinking more along the lines of: "That creature, Linguini you called him... He is very bendy, don't you think? Perhaps he has relatives in the states..." Followed by, "No apron! Aprons would get in the way of Waiter [Noodle?] Boy's trademark rollerskates, causing all sorts of trips and falls and terrible things happening. Nearly as bad as capes, darling."
