Greetings, intertubes! Long time no post ^^a

I am happy to report that my computer is now working again \T^T/ For those of you who are interested, here is the, uh, "amazing" saga:

1.
Me: Drat, my wonderful fancy monitor is having signal problems with my computer :(
Me: Oh look, it's better now; I guess it's a fluke or possibly even *shudder* a feature of my having a wonderful fancy monitor now. It went away easily enough, though, and I've still got my laptop in the meanwhile, so I should be okay.

2.
Me: Aw crap, my monitor is doing that thing again. Well, let's see if any of the usual fixes work.
Me: *applies "Turn the monitor on and off", "Turn the computer on and off", "Wait for at least an hour"*
Me: Well. Double crap. I guess I'll give it a few days, in case an hour wasn't enough?
Me: *waits a couple days*
Me: ...Still no. Uh.
Techier-than-me Roommate C: I've got an extra monitor you can borrow if you want.
Me: ...You know what, yeah, sure, let's try that.

3.
Me: *tries C's spare monitor*
Monitor/Computer: No Signal 8D
Me: Triple crap.
C: Huh. Well, in that case, it's probably the video card.
Me: That's cheaper than a new computer! I'll take it!

4.
[A week and a half later]
Me: *finally has free time that coincides with C's to go shopping for new video card*
C: *tries new video card* Try it now.
Monitor/Computer: No Signal 8DDD
Me: Fuck.
C: I guess it's not the video card then. Well, I've got an extra motherboard, you can have that for what you paid for the video card - not needing it, you can totally return it for a refund, right?
Me: Exchange only DD:
C: Well. Sorry I made you go out and buy something then.

5.
C: *installs new motherboard*
Computer/Monitor: *communicate with one another*
Me: *cries tears of joy*

Now, wasn't that a thrilling story?

In other news, the world continued to turn while I was stuck with my laptop, and while I did not continue to update, things kept happening. Here are some of the things:

* Don't Ask, Don't Tell was struck down, with the president poised to sign the bill this week
* [Trigger Warning for rape and rape culture] Kieth Olbermann and Michael Moore showed their fauxgressive colors with an absolutely appalling display of rape apologism and spreading of false information with no retractions (Sady at Tiger Beatdown has an absolutely amazing campaign and series of posts about this going right now, at no small personal cost)
* I made a completely, uh, "adorable" HorrorTerror/Rose-style Squiddle for my own keeping 8D (Pictures to come later ♥)
* I started something for the Sister Claire Two Year Anniversairy Advent Contest
* Other stuff, I'm sure

And now I'm going back to reveling in the fact that I have a computer with sound again ♥
