Griffin time, woo!

Griffin 8) Griffin stands about six to eight inches/fifteen to eighteen cm tall (I haven't measured exactly and am too lazy to do so now) and has brown eyes. Its wings are supported with silver colored copper wire, wrapped with yarn to match the crochet work. Its face is slightly lopsided from the front (whoops), but there's not a lot I can do about that now. ...Okay, there's not a lot I have the patience to do about that now. Close enough.
I went through three possible patterns for the feet before I reached this one, and it's slightly unstable where it's connected to the ...shoulder? Front thighs? Still, it does manage to stand up well enough on its own, and none of the alternatives I've tried so far look near as good, so I can live with this. Worse comes to worst, I can reinforce the drumsticks with wire as well.
I popcorned the rear toes, which was a minor stroke of genius, if I do say so myself. I probably should have gone with something more tan for the fleshy bit where the beak connects to the face, but I suppose it looks well enough this way, and I give myself points for remembering it at all. Anyway, I'm pleased with it. This one's going up for sale as soon as I get a time trial done, as will the time trial griffin (which will be in brown with gold eyes). I'm also going to start looking into making my patterns presentable/sellable, probably with any help I can muster from
crochet.
Welp, that's all I've got to say about this particular piece at the moment. Closing this entry, so I can get to work on other things.
Another quick reminder, I've got an offer for custom crochet work up for bidding here at
help_mindanao. It's open through the 20th, so take a glance if you've got the cash to spare on flood relief.
