1) Intro to Sociology was successfully dropped, not long after I got home from taking the first class. That setup (the extremely packed schedule plus a super strict teacher) was not for me.
2) I've had some mild financial bullshit with college, but hopefully it's well on its way to being all sorted out.
3) All of my Speech homework for this week? I accidentally did last week 😂 Honestly, much better than the other way around.
4) In less college related news, I finally got my car back from the shop 😠It took more than a week to get my internal fans fixed, but I am not dealing with summer around here without AC. Especially for thirty minute drives and little to no shade parking.
5) I finally finished properly outlining my first story for Sot69 this year 👀 I am pleased with what I've come up with and how I'm getting the characters into position! I'm really looking forward to actually writing it now 😃

I am glad you dropped that class.
Date: 2025-07-12 07:38 am (UTC)Once upon a time, a bunch of my friends and I signed up for a history class that looked really cool, but was outside or subject area, so we didn't know the prof at all. End of class I told the others I was dropping as I was pretty sure prof had early stage dementia based on the lecture.
They poo pooed me. I found a different class and switched so I only had missed one class, which was fine. This sort of thing is why I never bought my books until after I'd sampled with a prof I didn't know.
My friends waited to long to drop, and later came to me one by one saying I was right and it was a nightmare in there, both really hard and heartbreaking to watch him deteriorate.
I also believed other students warning me against profs for being assholes, queerphobes, misogynists. I had friends who didn't and were very, very sorry. It's hard to be around even if it's not aimed at you. There were also a couple of profs at my second college, I'd warn newbies against even though I consistently took their class because I could deal with their anal retentive gotcha paper criteria, but it was brutal for people with any extra challenges at all.
If you have any other option at all (I didn't at my first college or for my forth degree, alas), it is always better to drop right away if you think a class isn't for you for any reason.
I am really glad you decided to take care of yourself instead of trying to tough it out.
So many people aren't that wise.

Date: 2025-07-12 05:15 pm (UTC)Hmm; sounds like I may need to revise my strategy for the fall term. I still need two classes in Humanities (I think?) to graduate, and I don't know basically any of the teachers outside the one I'm definitely not taking a class from. Nor do I talk much with the other students. In that case, I may sign up for two extra Humanities classes, then drop the two I think I'll have the least compatibility with. (Investigating if there's some sort of "Rate my Professor" option available might be a prudent first step, as well...)

Date: 2025-07-13 02:51 am (UTC)I was really helped at my second college by mostly travelling around with a lot of the same people, because the Classic department was small so we all knew each other, and my focus on the history side also meant I was encountering a lot of the same people doing similar stuff even though is was a large university.
