Woke up this morning to a light sheet of snow all over town. It made everything look really pretty, especially the otherwise bare trees. Unfortunately, I have not been much of a snow person for some time (aside from snow ice cream, which I am addicted to), so I didn't mind much when it was mostly gone this afternoon.
The power went out at school at roughly three-oh-six in the afternoon; about fifteen minutes before the final bell. I have seventh hour open, which means I can leave, what with my house being all of three blocks from school as the crow flies, but usually choose to stay because they have a faster internet connection and many free computers. Anyway, there was about thirteen minutes of vague movements in the dark, and then we were dismissed. After school activities were also cancelled (which was rather a shame, as I wanted to have GLoW in the dark). I've heard a couple of explanations through the grapevine (i.e., my brother and [livejournal.com profile] nekokenchan), both involving someone getting an electric shock in the cafeteria; Kenchan said it was some kid, Tomas said it was a janitor or something. While trapped waiting in the library, the librarians hypothesized that it was the construction going on near by. Walked home in relatively good spirits, considering my brother would be tying up the line when I got there.
We're having a film crew from New York staying with us for a day or so (I don't know all the details). We don't know them, but their boss knows my aunt on my mother's side (she's a film editor, I believe) so that's how they got a room with us. They're filming for a documentary that may or may not actually happen--again, I don't know all the details--called 'The Split', I believe. It's about how there's this big blue stripe on either edge of the US and it's colored in red in the middle-- the country's "split", y'see?--and we just happen to be a connection of sorts in the middle. Right now they're across the back yard interviewing one of our county supervisors--real nice guy. We're also sorta smack-dab in the center of Liberalville, Midwest, so things are a bit different around here.
Birthday is tomorrow. Family, 'specially Mom, is being really vocal about how it's a really big birthday, what with me turning legal and all, and how I might just want to make a big deal of it, maybe. (Not really; at the moment, I'm tempted to treat it like any other day in RL, but it's not going to happen (what with Pina Colada fudge coming from one friend during lunch and going out to dinner in the evening with family and so forth).)
Was sort-of productive this evening. Got a little drawing done, hope to have it up tomorrow, and the short Heiji fic plunny finally decided to launch a second attack, so more of that might get written--BUT NOT UNTIL PHYSICS HOMEWORK IS DONE, thank you. May also end up adding a bit more to 'Sword of Kings', what with one thing and another. (Dude, I keep on getting these fantastic reviews for it. Okay, technically there's only six (counting LJ comments) but they're really good as far as reviews go. Plus, considering that my last crossover, 'Misinformation', only got two reviews on FF.net, I wasn't really expecting much more for this one. Surprise, surprise.)
So yeah. Busy day today. *shrug*

Happy early B-day! Jeeze, so many people seem to have birthdays around this time... so I started counting months back. Is it just me, or is it highly suspicious that Valentine's Day is roughly nine months prior? Nice to know that so many people's parents were traditionalists, but... Jeeze.

Anyway: You're not the only person who I've heard wondering about the lowered amount of reviews on ff.net. I'm beginning to suspect that it's because of so many people posting their fics on their LJs-- so many more writers use LJs now than before, and many people review *there* rather than in an archive. Makes sense, doesn't it? So I wouldn't worry.
