summercloud's Trust. (Magic Katio, Aoko-centric, dark-ish)
Trust is a very poignant portrayal of Aoko's feelings toward Kaito and the Kaitou Kid. This fic is unique in that, even if it doesn't give the fans the ending they want, it still has the characters' best interests at heart. This is not a happy fic for people who want a really sappy Kaito/Aoko-4evah ending. The right things happened, though, and for the right reasons. Sometimes the best thing a person can do is move forward.
I consider myself a romantic at heart, but in an odd sense of the word, closer to the style it once was. Mostly, I just want what's best for the characters I work with ^_^; For me, Trust fulfills this requirement, and even though it's not really a happy ending in one sense of the word, it's happy in another--in that the characters are more free afterward.
Anyway, I encourage everyone to go give it a read (and leave comments!!!). And if you're one of those people who can't bear this type of ending, you can just pretend that, years down the road, something a little different happens to reconcile them ^_^
(While you're checking out Trust, I urge you to scroll up a bit and read Woman's Magic (Harry Potter), too. It addresses the issue of femininity in the HP books very nicely, I think, and is worth a read ^_^)
