Comics, whee!
Nov. 3rd, 2005 03:19 pmT:RC volume 7 is in stores~! *just picked it up* As well as CLAMP no Kiseki volume four, but I didn't have enough cash on me for that and I'm not too comfortable with my debit card yet. Anyway, I bought it~ And I'm all happy now, even though I don't have the next xxxHolic book, 'cuz it has T:RC!version Ohra and Seishiro.
Oh, I also had a very stupid idea. You know how I have all those comics in German at home? Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne, Detective Conan, Full Moon wo Sagashite and Time Stranger Kyoko? Well, all except TSK are currently being 'officially' translated into English. So I thought, "Hey, I have lots of friends who know German; I have manga; I have a scanner; I have programs that can let me alter images; why not start a (mini) scanlation project?"
So, stupid idea, yes? Can I convince anyone to help me with it anyway? I'll need at least two people on translation (to have two different ideas of what a character might be saying, or in case one needs some time off due to school, etc (and I know there's at least two of you out there)), and probably a quality checker or two (who might also happen to be a translator). I'll probably have to release the final versions on YSI, too. Any takers out there for this really stupid idea? Anyone? At all? *hopeful eyes* Please reply here if you're interested, as it will be easier for me to keep track of than e-mail.
[Edit] I probably should've warned you, Time Stranger Kyoko is about as shoujo as you can get. Take it as a good sign that it's magical girl rather than pure romance. That means it'll have some action, even if it is just floating bubble magic. [/Edit]
Tomorrow starts the long line of birthdays. Need to finish up MoF's fic...

Date: 2005-11-03 09:52 pm (UTC)One of each down; I'll start
destroyingcutting up the books so I can scan 'em. I'll probably hold off on distribution until I've got another translator, though....Also, you think you or I could bug Chris into doing some Chinese translation for a similar project?

Date: 2005-11-04 03:34 am (UTC)Oh, I should probably warn you: Time Stranger Kyoko is incredibly shoujo. As in, if you thought Sailor Moon was bad, this might make your eyes bleed. Shoooouuuujooooo. Come to think of it, I probably should've put that warning in the post itself. I'll edit to add.
