Summary: Kyuubi meets the soon-to-be Yondaime. Same universe as Thicker Than Water and Speak No Evil.
Fic: First Impressions
She is hunting in a meadow when they first meet.
She has spent the last few years near the village. The Chakra it emits is usually enough to keep her satisfied, so she chooses to hunt to maintain her skils rather than out of any real need to eat.
She has just caught her second rabbit (she has moved up from mice, and anyway, the little hoppy things annoy her) when there is a surge of Chakra to her left. Blithely, she breaks the rabbit's neck with an unsympathetic twist, ignoring its final cry. Only then does she allow herself to look at her visitor.
He is a young human male, little more than two decades in age to her estimation. Humans age differently from her kind, she knows, but she's observed them long enough to make an educated guess. He's the brightest human she's ever seen, with longish spikes of sun-yellow hair and eyes like the heart of a flame. He practically bleeds Chakra. Wost, though, is when he smiles at her, and she can feel her cheeks heat under the onslaught of it.
"You're awfully far away from the village, especially in the middle of a war," he comments.
She holds up the rabbit she has just killed to answer his underlying question. "I was hunting. There isn't enough prey close to the village."
He chuckles. "True enough. I don't believe I've met you, miss...?"
It takes her a few moments to process that he's asking for a name. By that time she's kept him waiting long enough to warrant suspicion, so she gives him the first name she can think of. "Kyuubi. I am called Kyuubi."
As soon as the words are out of her mouth she wonders why she answered him. Why does she care what this strange bright human with his strange warming smile thinks?
He seems amused by her answer, and she finds she can be angry with him after all. Before she can think of a retort, however, he speaks again. "'Kyuubi', huh? Well, I'm called the Yellow Flash, but that's not my name." He smiles again and again her cheeks heat, adding to her frustration. "You should get back to the village soon, Kyuubi-jousan," he adds. "The next person you meet might be more dangerous than I am."
She grunts in return and looks down at her rabbit so he does not see how dark her cheeks have gotten. There is another surge of Chakra, and he is gone when she looks up again.
She doesn't know why she is disappointed.

Okay, I think I managed to keep Kyuubi from being a Sue, if only by turning her into a rather animal-minded female Sasuke clone ^^a
It's very plausible that Kyuubi could be a spy (as opposed to, say, an uber-powerful demon fox), what with one thing and another. At the moment, Yondy isn't sure exactly what she is, but he knows she has secrets.
Oh, and he got there while practicing the Body Flicker/Flash/wossname.
Fandom: Naruto
Summary: Very unnerving breaking news. Same AU as above. Side fic (non-canon?), crack-ish.
Fic: Headlines
It's on the front page of half of the papers at the stand:
"Future Fourth Hokage in Sordid War-Time Affair With Nine-Tailed Demon Fox!"
It worries her when she sees it, if only because the idea of her killing the one who publicized this would make him upset. She becomes considerably less worried when he notices and explains the concept of 'tabloids' to her.
Still, she decides to check up on how the authors are getting their information. Nearly half of it is incorrect.
For some reason, this makes her companion laugh almost uncontrollably.

In a ninja village, I imagine that it would either be very easy to keep secrets, or very difficult.
Brain says that Kyuubi probably has Yondaime order subscriptions to a bunch of tabloids so she can keep up on the news of the demon world.
jeva_chan? I'm ready to go when you are ♥ I lie D: I'll be on at about 8:00 central time.
