Introductory Paragraph

Tonight, the last dregs of resistance to getting an account threw up their collective hands in disgust and announced, "Okay, we give up; get the damn journal already." Part of me is still wondering (in a loud, obnoxious voice) why I'm doing this; the other part (in a loud, giddy voice) is wondering why I didn't do this _sooner_.
I have a lot to say, and I rarely voice it, so for a while I may just be getting rid of backlog. On that note...
It is often said that you can choose your friends, but you can't choose your family. If I were able to choose my family, I would probably decide on the one I already have, or one very similar to it.
My parents are free-thinking open-minded individuals, both librarians. They've raised me well (which, I'm aware, is rather odd for a teenager to think) and have awakened in me a love of books and compassion for others. (This does _not_ mean I will not laugh at people; it just means I try to steer clear of useless cruelty.)
I _love_ my little brother (which is _also_ something odd for a teenager to say). He's three years and six weeks younger than I am, give or take, and he is just about the coolest sibling I could possibly ask for.
Example One:
(socchan is flipping through channels, looking for distraction; Tomas (yes, spelled without an 'h') wanders in)
Tomas: (noticing a show being advertised) I hate those 'girl power' episodes of TV shows.
Me: (eyebrows lift) Huh?
Tomas: I mean, I hate that they [society] feel the need to have them.
Me: ...I love you ^_^.
Example Two:
(socchan is playing Kingdom Hearts. Tomas is watching. socchan has recently said to Tomas: "If Disney can be a part of a game that inspires so much Yaoi/Shonen-ai, it can't be all bad," and has been screaming about A PERFECTLY GOOD THREESOME being BROKEN UP since day one, thus giving Tomas a new perspective on the game)
Me: (during the first Disney cutscene) I can't believe Goofy doesn't have anyone.
Tomas: ...Well, there _is_ Pluto...
Me: (stares at Tomas in shock) (thinks it over) (grins) I love you.
Tomas: ...I did _not_ just say that...

(socchan is still playing; trying to get food for the raft without racing Riku; Kairi's not cooperating -_-)
Me: She's saying, 'Go, fight over me, objectify me (etc)! (she's actually saying something like "Why don't you go see Riku?", which, as one cannot advance the game without racing him, amounts to the same thing, to me)
Tomas: Or maybe she's saying 'Go have fun with Riku.'
Megan: (Shoujo eyes) Ooooooo...
Tomas: I didn't say _that_ either!

Tomas: I did _not_ like the way that looked when he was climbing...
Me: HahahahahahaHAAAAAAA-! I love you! ^_^
