Manga Release
Sep. 23rd, 2004 09:04 pmSo this morning I had the opportunity to drop by a local bookstore, and found that (in addition to there being a buy-three-get-fourth-free sale on manga) not only was the first Case Closed graphic novel out in stores, I had the strange temptation to buy it. Dude, WTF. I do not need to buy Detective Conan with a lamer name in Engish, especially since they're keeping the dub names for the manga. (I'm fairly neutural as far as the dub itself is concerned--I'm not going to go out of my way to watch it, but I'm certainly not going to write angry letters to the dubbers demanding they change everything to the original. What they were planning to do at first had me up in arms, but as it is I'm kinda 'meh'.) I do not need to buy the dub Detective Conan manga when I bought it for almost half the cost in Germany. Nevertheless, I found myself strangely compelled to walk into the store and spend too much money on it before visiting a college campus and going home. After about thirty seconds I managed to convince myself it wasn't worth it, and (eventually) left the store without buying anything. (I desperately want to go back later and pick up the Fruba books I'm missing, and probably a few other things x_x)
At the time I couldn't for the life of me figure out what I saw in the book. Now I'm fairly certain I wanted it because it was an easy way to drag some of my friends into the fandom so I could jabber about it at them and they would have some idea what I was talking about. Well, with a few name changes anyway. I'm nearly positive I wouldn't have needed to buy the following books in English, as if one of my friends got addicted s/he would do it _for_ me, but still.
Am I that desperate to have someone to talk to about Detective Conan fanstuff? (Or maybe I'm just tired of hearing about Sayuki--Sorry Maggie ^^; You're probably tired of hearing about FMA and DC/MK, too ^^; As well as probably everyone else... ^^;;; )
I wonder if there's another way... Maybe if I print out stuff...
*goes to ponder ways to addict new people*
