soc_puppet: Dreamsheep as Lumpy Space Princess from Adventure Time (Sei Approves)
That's right, folks! Socchan is once again out looking for employmet! (Part of it is because it's good to feel productive and "I have to go to work" is a nice excuse, and part of it is because Mom's leaning on me ^^; ) Mostly I've been picking up applications so far (gah, so confusing @_@--I need to find out my previous employment dates). Currently I have three applications at home--Brenneman's, West Music's, and Petland's--as well as internet access to a fourth--Walgreen's. Today I'm hoping to pick up applications to Sueppel's Flowers (I think?) and La Petite [Academy].

I'm really looking forward to the La Petite one. See, I went there for a good number of years in my youth and always said I would go back to work there one day. It was a good place for me when I was a kid, and I always liked it better than the school-sponsored after school programs. Well, except the food, but that's a different issue. Anyway, I like kids, and Mom says I'm good with them, so I figure, why not? It helps that they've got a sign out for part-time afternoon work ;) The major issue I see with me actually working there is me keeping my big fat politics out of things. Bad things could happen if I were to, say, tell kids that being gay is okay. I think I can mostly censor myself and remain ambiguous on things or stick to the facts (defenitions, for example), but it still worries me.

Trying to steer relatively clear of the food industry for now, in most of its forms. Grocery and slow-food restaurants especially. I don't think I could handle being a waitress very well, but counter work would probably be okay for me; it would serve as a barrier between my fists of rage and the customers ;) Grocery work on the other hand... No, I don't think so. Leaning far away from that. Know too many people there. The possibility of running into an enemy is too high. Stress. Headaches. No good. Counter restaurant better--though I'm still leaning away from the 'classic' fast food joints. Smaller places better.

Anyway, I said something about looking for a job, didn't I? Guess I'd better go pick up those applications then. Ciao!
soc_puppet: Dreamsheep as Lumpy Space Princess from Adventure Time (My Precious)
You know what I've noticed about my posts recently? They're basically two (usually short) things, possibly one RL and one fandom, or one fandom and one different fandom, or something about one of the previous and some computer woes, or one RL/fandom/whatever and a quick notice about something I want more feedback on or want to let as many people know about as possible (see Magical Girl Icka poll results and Lurker Day *shameless, whut*). There's nothing to say about it, really; I just thought it was interesting.

Anyway, stopped by the flower store and La Petite to get applications. Flower store people still couldn't find them, and the person I was told to ask earlier had just left ^^; La Petite was somewhat more promising. I went in, waited until the person at the front desk was free, and it turned out she remembered me from her first year working there ^_^ She gave me an application and told me to definitely fill it out and bring it back. I have high hopes for that job.

Stopped by the bookstore while I was out, since it was kinda right there and I needed to activate my new debit card anyway and why not check things out. Bleach 11 and T:RC 8 were both in, and I snatched them up like the greedy otaku that I am. I'm still mildly annoyed with the translators of Bleach, in what they do with names (Ishida's in particular, with Sado's close behind in pet peeve land) and more recently in that they've removed the titles from the covers >( Dammit, this is the Star and Stray Dog book, and I want the world to know it! It has my beloved Renji and Rukia backstory! (I am not, in fact, Renji's biggest fan; Rikichi is. I am up there on the list, however. Perhaps this will get Fletcher to understand why people like him so much...) Star and Stray Dog = very important, kthx.

*ahem* Moving on now. I was also quite happy to get the next T:RC book as this is about where my scanlation source dried up and died. I am more than a little happy to see Syaoran in drag again ^__^ Also, Fye. You are just a little angsting thing inside, aren't you? ;_;

This book made me think one thing as I neared the end. Clow and Yuuko had a wild night. They wake up in the morning (read: two in the afternoon) hungover as all hell. Clow says to Yuuko as she arranges for a remedy (this is long after he started planning): "She will be impervious to hangovers as well." And that's how Sakura got that special ability ^__^

It also made me think that I need to write that other xxxHolic/Bleach crossover with Rukia and talking black bunnies. Because yes ♥

Oh yeah, also: Azureus seems to be working quite well now ^___^ *is a happy fangirl*

Edit: I think I posted a similar version of this a while back (it said something like 'someone you consider a true friend' instead of 'makes your world a better place'), but it's no less true for the test of time. Love you guys!

If there is someone on your friends list who makes your world a better place just because they exist and who you would not have met (in real life or not) without the Internet, then post this same sentence in your journal. <3
