That's right, folks! Socchan is once again out looking for employmet! (Part of it is because it's good to feel productive and "I have to go to work" is a nice excuse, and part of it is because Mom's leaning on me ^^; ) Mostly I've been picking up applications so far (gah, so confusing @_@--I need to find out my previous employment dates). Currently I have three applications at home--Brenneman's, West Music's, and Petland's--as well as internet access to a fourth--Walgreen's. Today I'm hoping to pick up applications to Sueppel's Flowers (I think?) and La Petite [Academy].
I'm really looking forward to the La Petite one. See, I went there for a good number of years in my youth and always said I would go back to work there one day. It was a good place for me when I was a kid, and I always liked it better than the school-sponsored after school programs. Well, except the food, but that's a different issue. Anyway, I like kids, and Mom says I'm good with them, so I figure, why not? It helps that they've got a sign out for part-time afternoon work ;) The major issue I see with me actually working there is me keeping my big fat politics out of things. Bad things could happen if I were to, say, tell kids that being gay is okay. I think I can mostly censor myself and remain ambiguous on things or stick to the facts (defenitions, for example), but it still worries me.
Trying to steer relatively clear of the food industry for now, in most of its forms. Grocery and slow-food restaurants especially. I don't think I could handle being a waitress very well, but counter work would probably be okay for me; it would serve as a barrier between my fists of rage and the customers ;) Grocery work on the other hand... No, I don't think so. Leaning far away from that. Know too many people there. The possibility of running into an enemy is too high. Stress. Headaches. No good. Counter restaurant better--though I'm still leaning away from the 'classic' fast food joints. Smaller places better.
Anyway, I said something about looking for a job, didn't I? Guess I'd better go pick up those applications then. Ciao!

Date: 2006-02-11 01:27 am (UTC)Mom only lasted as a waitress for three days ^_^; I don't think I would be able to handle the stress of busy periods, either. Otherwise, I think I wouldn't mind.
I'm rather fond of kids. They would wear me out nine ways from Sunday, but I think it would be fun.

Date: 2006-02-11 02:09 am (UTC)If you do get a job at a restaurant, try to be dish washer or something. It'll keep you away from the stupid people who think you're their mother and are there to clean up after them.
