Deep thoughts
May. 28th, 2009 08:59 pmSo I've been noticing this trend over the past few months, where my posts have been taking on a more political lean than I ever expected. While I understand that this (these? Is it one or two when all I do is crosspost entries?) is indeed my journal, and therefore I am perfectly within my rights to post about almost anything I could possibly want, I gotta say: I sucked at keeping up journals/diaries IRL. This is mostly because, to write, I need to feel as if I'm addressing someone, and I didn't get any of that from "conventional" journaling/diary-keeping.
THE POINT OF THIS IS: While I'm at a point where I'm becoming increasingly interested in civil rights, social matters, and so forth, that's definitely not where everyone else is, and it's not something I want to pressure anyone into. And while part of me is secretly gleeful about being a prominent political voice in my tiny corner of the blog-o-sphere, a part of at least equal size is concerned about alienating people who might otherwise be interested in reading things I wrote.
No idea what, if anything, I'm going to do about this. Just wanted to say that it's been on my mind.
...For the record, most of that previous section was brought to you by my need to link you to Judge Spock, if only for the comments. I mean, I would've talked about it anyway eventually, but this spurned its being typed tonight.
In other news, thanks to everyone who gave me advice on taking control of Puck ♥ He was indeed much easier to deal with after I got some water bottles set up. Now all I have to worry about is August-ish, when the new roommate with two cats moves in. I should start considering introductions...
