soc_puppet: Words "In Real Life" in green (Now showing in 3D)
So! Guess whose basement room just flooded!

If you guessed Socchan's, twenty points for you.

The water's not too deep, and I grabbed everything I considered really important out of there - followed by some less-than-vitals. The stuff actually on the floor is probably mostly doomed, including my six-plus-years-old desktop computer (thank you, laptop, for being alive!), but I've got a trade for a new computer in the works which I should be able to get relatively soon, and most of my stuff backed up on my ginormous (and safe!) portable harddrive besides. My pattern books ended up in the water, but they were pretty much all in pencil and should be okay once they dry.

Mostly I'm stressed right now. My family can totally handle this, but it is so not something I needed to deal with the night before my Science of Baking final. Or two nights before my International Breads final.

Focusing on the positives:
* My laptop still works, and with it my drawing tablet; it's also where I have most of my typed patterns stored, so yay!
* Of my computer stuff, the tower was the only thing on the ground, and that's what's going to be replaced shortly and was mostly backed up besides
* The final for Science of Baking is a practical and ends with CUPCAKE WARS. Basically, the class was divided into teams and assigned different flours, and our team totally lucked out and got cake flour. We're making orange chocolate cupcakes; the ones for the final are plain chocolate, no orange, but the ones for the contest (no points, just bragging rights for the winner) are orange chocolate in orange rinds with chocolate ganache and orange buttercream frosting. Also clementine supremes. What I've seen of the other teams' contest offerings are also really amazing, so this promises to be a lot of fun.
* I decided against Pathetic Anger Bread for my International Breads final when Chef gave me the go-ahead to use Zatar bread instead - possibly because we didn't get around to doing it in class. Apparently Chef couldn't find sumac, but I finally got around to visiting a local store that I heard has it and found a 12oz bag for a mere $3.99 USD! Totally bringing it in tomorrow.
* I'm half to two-thirds of the way done writing The Mpreg Abortion Fic. (Anyone who doesn't want to count that as a positive is invited to shut up.)
* My finished crocheted items are safe, including the trade item I made for [personal profile] redsixwing. Incidentally, if you have the means and are interested in cheering me up, I would like to welcome you to browse my Etsy store and/or PM me with commission requests.

Sleep now, more later.
