Apr. 26th, 2021 01:52 amHad a 10 hour shift at work today ("today", I write, after midnight). I had an actually decent time for most to all of it. Here are some contributing factors:
* I get along well with my current supervisor and primary coworker
* My current boss is okay with me needing to take occasional breaks to sit down for a few minutes, and/or sitting down while working in general
* I knew what I was doing for most of my tasks
* I enjoyed most of the tasks I was assigned today
* I'm still scheduled only afternoons, so while I still wake up before noon, it's just that much more friendly to my circadian rhythm in general
* Seriously it is so great to have a supervisor who is also neuroatypical/neurodivergent and who Knows What's Up
* Listening to exactly the right podcast when my coworkers left for the day
* Having all of yesterday off to laze about, and knowing I have the next three days off to do the same
* Feeling safe and comfortable setting boundaries with my current supervisor
* Despite working yesterday much longer than I did today, my supervisor was still horrified when she learned how late I ended up staying, and said she really appreciated me in the same breath (er, text)
Things will definitely get more complicated when we finally get student interns again, though I don't know just when that will be. Though maybe this boss will finally be able to wrangle a little bit of "how to be a good mentor/teacher-ish-type-person" training for us, as well; I feel like she'd actually consider it if I asked.
(It is sincerely astounding the difference a good boss can make.)
