soc_puppet: [Homestuck] God tier "Life" themed Dreamsheep (Sheep of Life)
Thing the first: I got my hair cut! It was my first haircut since probably at least a year before Covid, so there was a considerable amount to cut 😂 I got it cut just a teensy bit shorter than I meant to (some strands are not quite long enough to stay in a ponytail), but I'm chalking that up to a learning experience, and also it'll grow back out soon enough.

Thing the second: I stopped by the Dollar Tree and ended up in a sort of shopping scavenger hunt with another customer 🤣

He'd approached me randomly to ask if a given treat he had in his basket could pass for cupcakes. When I told him maybe but I thought they looked more like muffins, I expected that to be the end of it, but he followed up by asking me to give him a shout if I actually found any cupcakes. It was so bizarre—he didn't introduce himself, and the only place I might have known him from was a job I had ten years ago, but couldn't say for certain—that I ended up going along with it, because what the hell, right? He seemed harmless enough, and as long as it stayed in the store, I didn't think I had anything to worry about.

I ended up finding some Hostess cupcakes, then managed to track him down in the store somehow; he wasn't in the food aisles anymore, but the store isn't terribly big, so it didn't take very much time. When I showed him where to find the cupcakes, I thought again that would be the end of it, but he followed up with asking me to help him find something with an owl. Anything at all, it didn't matter what, it just needed to have or to be an owl.

I looked around the Halloween stuff for a while, and finally found a generic Happy Halloween card that I passed on to him. He was grateful, but still wanted something more than a card that was owl-ish. After more searching, I came across some wooden owl silhouettes in the craft section. "Are you sure this is an owl?" he asked. Yes, I was. It was a dead ringer for the Duolingo owl, though I didn't say so out loud. "Shame I'm not much of an artist," he continued. Well, there was a set of markers right next to us, so confessed to being a bit of an artist myself and volunteered to slap a face on the owl silhouette as well.

Thankfully, that was it, and I drew a quick face and some feathers on the owl (in requested colors) while I was waiting for my stuff to get rung up. The guy signed the owl card, complimented my work and remarked at how fast I'd drawn, then asked if I wanted anything for helping him out so much, so I just asked for the markers. He'd only wanted them to sign the card and decorate the owl silhouette anyhow, so he cheerfully handed them over. After that, he left the store, then I paid for my stuff and left myself.

Good luck, random person! Hope whoever you got the cupcakes and owl stuff for likes them!
