Cars and Records
Aug. 7th, 2023 11:30 pmWelp! Car's back in the shop! Sounds like it wasn't the battery after all. Possibly it's related to fuel somehow, because I've had the most/worst problems starting it up right after fueling up (yes, basically the same thing happened at the exact same gas pump on Sunday). So that's a thing.
Other news! My parents decided they wanted to get rid of our old, horribly broken couch for some new recliners: A matching set of three for the three of us! On Friday, the couch was hauled out of the house (to be deposited on the curb probably on Thursday, possibly earlier), and our new recliners were finally delivered. Yay! This left the question of what to do with the recliner we already had, which didn't match the set, and which had primarily been used by yours truly. Mom and Dad didn't really have a concrete plan beyond, "IDK, sell it somehow?" so I proposed: What if I clean out a space in the room off of the laundry room and move the chair there? Maybe move the TV in my room there as well, have a little media center type space?
I didn't mention this explicitly to them, but doing so would make the space pretty close to the space I used to hang out and do crafts with Steve the chainmaille guy, and it's my hope this will help me get over some executive dysfunction and do more crafts (while also watching some of the many, many, many DVDs in my collection I haven't gotten around to yet). With any luck, I'll also be able to Task Link in my laundry; since I'll be sitting in a room literally right next to the laundry room, I'll be able to hear when the machines are done, and should be able to get that stuff switched around and folded as the cycles end.
Dad has mostly been using that space as storage for his 78 RPM records and other stuff, and honestly hasn't done much with it in years. (Possibly since his record database got destroyed.) He agreed to let me move stuff around as long as I was careful, and I started working in earnest last night. There's been some pretty significant movement of stuff so far! A lot of it is just one room over at the moment, but I've managed to clear some space on the main table in the Record Room to formally sort stuff out, and hopefully get some of it into a more stable and organized space.
There's also a couple of tubs and boxes of my own stuff in there from over the years, and I'm vaguely planning to start weeding through that specifically once I get "my" chair in there. That may still be a ways away yet, though. In any case, I've got something to do with my free time for the next week at the very least.
