Making space
Aug. 29th, 2023 11:26 pmOn Friday night last, I ordered a new bed frame, because my previous one was... not suited to my needs. It's a twin-size adjustable/foldable one, with no slats in the middle, and because I'm a restless sleeper, I would occasionally twist and turn so much that the frame would get too loose to hold the box spring in the middle. This happened twice, and I fixed it both times. Then I ended up turning over in a really weird way that would throw the box spring off the middle of the frame even though I had just adjusted it to fit correctly and it was still at that size. At which point I decided, fuck it, I don't want to deal with this anymore, I'm buying a new bed frame.
The bed frame I found that best fit my needs has 18"/45cm legs. On the one hand, this is pretty cool, because I can store a lot of stuff under there! On the other hand, that is very tall, even if it also technically counts as a box spring somehow.
It also arrived yesterday, when it was initially scheduled to arrive this Friday. I had been planning to use today and tomorrow, my days off, to organize things in my room so I could set up my new bed frame when it arrived. Oops! I fumbled things around and got it set up tonight with only a few hiccups. I'm reasonably pleased with it, though there is one problem I haven't solved yet: I have a little ramp for Molly the dog that was retired from the living room when the new recliners arrived to replace the couch. Molly was very happy to use the ramp to get up onto my bed all on her own, no longer needing assistance. That ramp is no longer tall enough for her to use that way. I will be on the lookout for a new dog ramp for her.
Alternately, I'll have to see if she's interested in sleeping on a dog bed under my bed. There's certainly enough room there!
