For Sale: Baby Shoes, Never Worn
Aug. 16th, 2024 11:44 pmThe timeline:
Grandma asks me to make a quilt for a friend of hers who is having a baby
I explain patiently that I am not prepared to make quilts, small or otherwise; but I could crochet her something? Maybe a baby blanket?
Grandma compromises and asks me for two pairs of baby booties, one pink and one white
I look for a pattern I think would work; I find one
I pick up some yarn to use
I dither a little bit, because ADHD is ADHD, and Conditions are Not Right
I finally get to crocheting the booties
Hooray!
I have finished the crochet stage of three of the four booties
Mom: "You know those are too small, right?"
Me: "🤬"
I finish the booties anyway, and resolve to make the next pairs out of somewhat larger yarn; maybe one of Grandma's friends will have a preemie in the not too distant future.
So yeah, the booties aren't actually for sale, but even before I knew that they would be too small, the possibility was running through my head in conjunction with those exact six words that are this post's title.
Edit: Mom is sending off the completed booties so Grandma can tell us if they're too small; I'm currently off the hook (lol) for crocheting new ones, though I'm prepared if I end up needing to after all.
