Because it needs to be said somewhere

I'm pretty sure I never got around to discussing it, even around the time I wrote and posted my first lemon ever (Akako/Aoko, friends locked and unreviewed; stopped me from even attempting to write another lemon until the plunnies got too insistent). Last [school] year, though, one of my teachers, Mr. Hartwig (who I raved about on several occasions) said something I thought was especially pogniant. He basically took apart the Write What You Know rule.
It isn't so much that we should write about things we've experienced, he said, but that we should write about things we have thought through very thoroughly. There's a lot of authors who write about things they've never experienced, never could have experienced, and do well with them.
Long story short, that's the reason I let myself get away with writing lemons, despite my complete and total lack of sexual experience. Besides, there's loads of research on the web that I can look to for help ;)
Oh, and one last thing before I close this entry. This is a link to The Mechanical Lemon, a basic breakdown of how to write boysex. It's not all in there, but it's something I would've appreciated a lot back when I wrote my first lemon.
