Theoretical Paopu botany

¦D Doing research to try and figure out exactly what type of fruit the Paopu would be. Leaning towards a multiple at the moment (and boy did I learn some interesting things about figs!). Still haven't decided exactly how I want to treat the seeds. I'm thinking either a stony pit for each section that fuses together in the middle or possibly something like breadfruit, only divided into four little sections or strings or something. (There would obviously be mutated Paopu that ended up with one more or one less section than usual, and sometimes even two more or less. I'd say, "Just like clovers! :D" but I don't think I've ever heard of a clover naturally having less than three leaves, though I have seen them with seven.) I'm still debating a lot of it, actually. Based on this image, it almost looks like it would have thick rind like a hespiridium. Pepo seems somewhat more likely, given the relative thickness of the skin and that it's shown as being eaten here (which would be the second seed option, I think, while drupe would be the first). It's probably not a berry.

Taste has been suggested to be 'sweet', possibly 'citric'.

...Yes, this is (probably) going to be relevent to something. Eventually. Which is to say, theorizing more than welcome 8D

On a somewhat more random note, what would you put into a care package going to a number of people at a camp infested with zombies, purple gorillas with tazers, rabid goats, a tentacle monster in the lake, and surrounded by an inescapable barrier where everyone's a murder suspect? Especially if you're from a group that is generally known for mocking those trapped in said camp? Cheap suggestions prefered.

Edit: Do you think the Paopu would have a slightly fuzzy skin or not?

Okay, so um. I'm way too lazy to read those Wiki things but here's my theory which is based on no scientifical information whatsoever but oh well. I think the seed is a small pit in the center, about the size of a dime (only spheric, of course) or maybe a little larger, depending on the size of the fruit. I remember it being fairly large in Riku's hand, but I could be wrong.

The skin, I think, is probably a bit like an apple. I don't know the technical term for it. However, I don't think the inside is sturdy enough for it to be peeled like an apple. I imagine it being very soft and squishy almost, easily bruised.

I've already talked to you about taste, I know. However, if we accept that it is in fact normal and not on crack like the rest of KH canon, citrus is definitely a possibility. I'm definitely thinking something like an orange but sweeter. And I have no idea what apples and oranges taste like together, but that sounds about right in my head. Which is weird.

^_^ 'S fine if you're too lazy to read the Wiki stuff. (Apple = pome. Pears are also pomes, so you get an idea of structure and stuff.)

What bothers me is the leaves that come out of the other 'limbs' of the 'star' :/ I'm pretty sure plants don't usually work like that. It would sorta make sense if those were old petals that had yet to drop off, but they're clearly green, living leaves. Also, it would've helped if Nomura-sensei had been kind enough to be consistant in his Paopu drawings =_= *has only two but they deviate wildly*

Yeah, so, at the moment I'm thinking drupe, which is like a peach or a plum, for flesh/skin/pit structure. The round pit would work, except that I'm worried about how the arms of the star-shape would form off of that. Though it might work... *ponders this*

Ahahaha ^^a See, nekokenchan is going to Acen on Thursday? And I've managed to convince her to go take pictures of the CFUD group that's going to be there for me if she finds out when/where they're meeting. Pictures were my first idea when I found out what was going on, and then George-mun mentioned that there would probably be pictures anyway, so I panicked and thought "Maybe I can send something with Pat for them instead?" Only I didn't know who all would be there, so I didn't want to draw something and leave someone out, so I thought, "CFUD care package from the Audience :DDD" ...Only I don't know what to put in it, so ^^;; ...Or even if Pat would go along with it, to tell the truth.

We must keep in mind that, no matter how much we sometimes theorize it not to be, KH canon is on crack. So probably our rules of fruits or whatever don't even apply.

Oh. See, when I heard "care package", I thought, "Audience sends care package through barrier of camp?" and how insanely far out that would be. ^_^;

Ah, of course ^^a Not that I didn't have secret hopes that maybe someone would be inspired to include such a thing in CFUD, but. Anyway, pictures are most likely.

That really depends on where you read it. Was it in something official, or was it more fannish? Because if it was official, then I would jump all over it, but if it's fannish, I'm considerably more reluctant D:

Thing is, the only way we could even think about getting away with it is if we sent really useless mocking stuff 8D Like bacon bandaids (bandaids not only colored but cut to look like little strips of bacon) and/or grow-your-own girlfriend/boyfriend kits :O ...Anyway, it's not likely to happen anyway, so. Still, pipe dreams and all that...

When you borrow from canon to create your own works, you are abandoned by the legal community but are welcomed by other fans. However, when you knowingly borrow from a work by another fan and you don't give that fan any credit for the original idea, you are abandoned by everyone. (I might still be able to get away with it if I said that it was someone else's idea and I just didn't know whose, but I don't want to push my luck.)

Uh. I'm guessing it has a sort of a waxy edible - think the outside of a mochi ice cream thingy - skin and a banana-like interior. More hardy than a banana though, so it can be thrown around without bruising.
