Being mostly more Avatar babble

So, two fics in as many days. Yeah, I'm as surprised as you are. I haven't been this productive in years. Let's hope I can shove some of this productivity onto the stuff that needs work, yeah?

Anyway, two unrelated Avatar questions, and then I'mma post one of my brother's theories for the show, 'cuz he's just that awesome.

First, I still kinda want to know how old Zuko was when the flashbacks in "Zuko Alone" took place. 'Twould be quite useful for math stuffs.

Second, I wanna know stuff about ranks in the Fire Nation army. I'm pretty sure that Admiral > General, but I'm not positive? So, uh, a little help = much appreciated. (I'm probably going to look back in that other episode with Zuko flashbacks for extra info, cuz helpful.)

And now, to exploit my little brother's brain and theories for the masses:

Okay, so, Tomas's theory is that Iroh's world traveling and trip to the Spirit World (see: Siege of the North (can't remember which one, and it might even have been in the episode before the finale)) followed and are directly related to the death of his son. Which freaks me the hell out, but makes a heck of a lot of sense.

...I'm actually still reluctant to believe that all of Iroh's world-traveling happened as a result of this, mostly because of my own pet crack theory. Which I should probably get to work on related fic for. Or something. Anyway, it seems pretty likely to me.

The point of this is mostly to bemoan the fact that we know little to nothing of Iroh's past, and then celebrate the fact that we're probably going to find out a little more eventually. 'Cuz Iroh is really damn awesome.

...On an almost completely unrelated note, I've been volunteered to do some graphic designing for the Quire. Which is both flattering and terrifying, but I've got an idea for something, so I think I'm good. I think. Maybe. Hopefully. I just need to find some aurora photos first...

Edit: Why does the LJ on this computer think it's tomorrow? The computer doesn't think so.

Edit 2: ...I should not be this amused by 404 messages. (Refresh to see new ones. There's one in haiku, and another that parodies Zero Wing Rhapsody. *is taking screencaps*)

Admiral is like the main guy in the Navy, right? I think it's something like Private < Officer < Captain < General < Admiral. ...But I'm just guessing. ^^;

And I have no idea about the age thing. I think in the "girls are crazy" one, he's 12 or younger, but that's all I can think of.

Your brother's theory has some definite potential. In fact, I think I've heard of someone else having a theory kinda like that.

Yup. I only ask because I'm pretty sure that Zhao got promoted from General to Admiral. Though I could be getting mixed up. *shall have to double-check*

Drat :( Makes things more difficult. I guess Katara's mom would probably have to be an older sibling, though. Even if he was eight-ish. Unless Lu Ten was around twenty-four or something. Even then, though, they'd have to be twins.

Yup, yup. *le sigh* I still like the idea of Crown Prince Iroh: Runaway Aristocrat, though.

It also stopped me from finishing a download of episode 02x08 with one second left to go DDD: And then didn't have the sense to keep it when I deleted some stuff off of my USB drive. *mutters curses* I was hoping to get away with two episodes today, but now I don't have time ;_;

Your Crack is Infecting Me!

They're a very diverse group, The Avatar, a Waterbender, an Earthbender, and a boy.

The boy is very ingenuitive and creative. He has studied the way of the warrior. He does this because he wants to prove he's useful, even without bending abilities. Everyone knows he can't bend.

At least that's what he wants them to think.

The boy has a secret. One no one knows, not even his sister. GranGran made sure he knew that no one could know, includin his family. People with this gift hurt the tribe. A lot. That's why their Grandfather had to leave, they couldn't trust him. He and GranGran had a son, but the tribe made him leave as well. It was only because their mother inheirited her gift for GranGran that she wasn't chased out too.

Grandfather never knew he had a daughter. She was born eight months after he was exiled.

The boy remebers what GranGran told him about his grandfather. He was very powerful, but above all kind and gentle. He had a wisdom beyond his years, always seeming to know the best solutions for everything (and how to make really good tea). But the boy couldn't tell anyone this. He was supposed to hate the others who had his gift. So he pretended to, whenever they were spoken about in anger, he spoke the loudest. Slowly the hatred turned real. He hated the men who made the tribe think his grandfatehr was evil.

The worst was was they came back and killed his mother and made his father leave for war. His father left him in charge of protecting their people, never even realizing his own son was the same as the monsters that did this to their home.

He hadn't used his gift once since that day. He frowned at the stars above him. He looked around. Everyone else was sleeping. Even the moon was dark tonight, Yue hiding her face from him.

The boy took a deep breath and blew lightly on the kindling in the semi-used campfire. As his breath touched the dry wood, it lit ablaze, showerng the campsite with light. "That's for you Grandpa."

The sudden light awoke the Lemur who was the Avatar's pet. The little mammal scurried over and looked from the fire to the boy in a very confused manner.

Sokka grinned and scratched him behind his ears. "You won't tell anyone, will you Momo?"

Have I ever told you that I love you? Because yes. So much yes. And also yes. That is definitely one of the things I've contemplated for that universe: Firebender!Sokka. *shivers happily inside* Thank you so much ^_____^

It would be beyond hilarious XD Plus, that would probably give Sokka (and, to an extent, Katara) a slightly more legitimate claim to the throne than Zuko, thus completely crushing Zuko's world view. Not that either of them would actually take it...

(C'mon, he'd make a hilarious Firelord. He'd spend up to two weeks on the job, and then quit because it was hard :DDD But in the mean time, he'd have made a bunch of so-bad-they're-funny laws that whoever took over would have to fix.)
